Title: SFC4410
Post by: Gundummy on October 30, 2013, 07:02:34 PM
As usual i'm trying to topple the TBS market with something different - my latest adventure into the market is the SFC4410 retailing at $175 and available at http://safeflightcopters.com/ (http://safeflightcopters.com/)

I'm waiting for a few emails to arrive but all being well this will be a winter build project... details to follow.

As FPVhubs slowest builder .... i'll review it in 2015 :)

In a nice SFC Box...

Unpacked

Placed together - with a nice signed letter from Erik of SFC (A4 for scale)

Upon Closer inspection:

One of the frames has split/Cracked

The other set has numerous crimps and dents:

Having waited nearly 6 weeks - it's a shame that some idiot decided to sit on the parcel at some point in transit causing the above damage.

My initial impression is that this frame is way to flimsy to be an FPV platform however, locking the components in place and slotting in the wooden bracing soon stiffened everything up quite well and there is simply loads of room to position your gear.  All my multi's have been based on a "nut and bolt" build so this will be a new concept to get my head around!

Build blog to follow.......pending replacement parts!

Regards,

Gundy

Ian,
yeah a little miffed but not his fault and he is happy to send replacement parts to his credit.  The split/cracks are repairable so i will patch repair and complete a new build blog thread.....

I need to get back in the air as it has been a couple of months now :(

Not being a plastic expert...

It looks like vacu-formed sheet plastic with carbon/wood reinforcing ......

A few more pics:

Bottom strut - added a stiff base to mount ESC and FC

Added motors and ESC - The good thing with the AGM ESC is that the have Choc Block connectors in the base for the wires.

Place the rings onto the base plate and secure top plate with elastic bands.

Fit the top cover.....

A quick Naza dance and it maidened yesterday..... now the usual job of fitting the FPV gear and flight time testing begins.

Once the weather buggers off!
