Hi, first flights today with a new FY-41 set up. All went quit well except for 2 issues.
First We have diagonal lines across the video screen which fade from strong lines to clear and then back.. It makes no difference if the motor is on or not. I suspect that the power filter is not working?
Second Does the failsafe RTL work if there is a video downlink fails or is it only on Radio Control failure? The instructions are very Chinglish on this subject.

the FY41 has no way of knowing if your VTX or VRX has failed.
Also the FY41 also does not really know if you have lost the controller TX signal either.
What happens is, you set up RTL on a spare reciever channel to be switched on by a switch on your Transmitter.
If you lose control signal the receiver knows, (not the FY41), and fakes the output just as though you had switched on the channel you set up for RTL, that is what 'failsafe' is.
All the information about 'failsafe' and setting it up will be in the instruction manual for your receiver.
Diagonal lines are normally tell tail signs of a switching regulator clash, what Becs are you using for the camera / OSD and vtx ?
Thanks for the help. First, the power for the vtx, OSD and camera comes via the multiplugs that come with the FY-41. The flight lipo connects to the FY-41 power manager (which is also the current sensor) then to the esc. From the filter there is a supply to the FY-41, from there the power is distributed to the vtx, camera and the osd is internal in the FY-41 box. The radio rx and servos are getting power from the esc which has an internal bec. (it is possible to use an external bec or seperate rx pack with the red wire removed on the esc. I have elected not to for simplicity of wiring.) I wonder if I should put another filter just before the vtx?
As for the failsafe settings: there are 2 sets of instructions, one in Chinglish, neither are easy to understand

Any help on how to set this up on a Futaba 14sg with a Corona rx would be appreciated.
Having thought further about the event I wonder if the video signal and radio signal failed at the same time. Although I would have expected the 2.4 radio to have a range of at least 1000meters even if it was not line of site.
Next 41 question: Flying at 80 meteres high in a straight line manual control suddenly got a white circle that reduced down to the centre of the screen, Any ideas??

Well my Z11 still being pieced back together so I haven't flown it far with the fy41. But I think what you're referring to is when the little arrowhead that represents the position of the plane relative to launch point goes off the edge of the display, it does that zoom circle effect and puts it back to the centre, like in this guys vid at 2:32 (and other points) .

Hi Mark, yes that is exactly. So its just re-centering the home arrow then. By the way that is probably the least easy to see home arrow on the planet! Have you any idea if the configuration can be changed to Imperial measurements?

Since your reply I have removed all 3 sets from the models and bench tested with separate lipo, standard antenna and skews, switched cameras and vtx around, fitted LC filters, tried all channels. Apart from realising how much difference there is in camera quality, all 3 set ups give the same lines on the goggles. The only difference is one combination gives lines top right to top left, the other 2 are top left to top right. Fitting chokes to various positive leads will change the density and sometimes direction of the lines. If I connect the cameras up to a TV they all give a clear picture. Another observation is that if I deselect the channel and then reselect the quality of the picture can change dramatically. Also 1 of the cameras/vtx combos is as clear as a bell when mounted on a 450 quad even with the motors running but rubbish in a skywalker with an FY41 which sort of says the goggles are ok?. The other 2 are rubbish all the time regardless. My next move is to swap kit around with a buddy to see if it does the same when mixed in with his kit.
I have A temporary solution. By connecting The camera and video grounds together and by powering the transmitter with a separate lipo the lines have virtually gone. I have been told that a permanent solution will be to fit a voltage drop and run the video transmitter at nine volt to prevent a harmonisation of voltage controller between the camera and video transmitter.

I'm just starting to look at sorting my video (which is poor) from my fy41 . What you describe sounds very much the same as mine - diagonal scrolling lines that speed up before reversing direction and slowing down again (couple of vid links attached) . When I get a few mins away from 3 very demanding small children, I'll try to follow your route and the advice given by Coyote (many thanks Ian :D)

This is same as mine with the one exception that mine scrolls up and down faster. What vtx are you using?

I'm still having the same problem, even with everything other than the camera and vtx disconnected from the fy41ap. I've swapped vtx's which just changed the diagonal direction of the stripes, changed cameras, tried a voltage regulator - dropping the vtx voltage to around 9v ( was following your posts / coyotes help on the other forum - rcgroups ?) tried filters, chokes etc..... still not much improvement . Have tried output from a mobius cam ..... still got lines grrrrr (?)
Any advice much appreciated .

Hi Mark, I too did all of the things you have and had the same negative result. Funny that no one on RC Groups FY41 ever mentions the diagonal lines! Did you send the video to Ally at fy tech?
I have good news though. What I ended up doing was powering the vtx from a seperate 2 cell lipo, a 1500 mah 20c cheapo from HK, £8.00 in the sale column. So it goes like this, camera is powered through V IN, V Out yellow goes to IRC Vtx, video battery supplies power to IRC Vtx. Camera and vtx have a common earth by connecting earths on vtx together. Just for good measure I have a home made LCF on the power lead to the Vtx. The stripes are 80% gone. As a trial I powered the camera from the same battery and the stripes went completely.
Its ridiculous to have to do it but it works. Latest OSD firmware made no difference to stripes.

Many thanks for that info, I'll give it a go. It seems pretty poor that either the fy41 or the power module is creating this problem, I can't tell you how much time I've spent fiddling and tweeking trying to get rid of the lines and I'm sure you were the same.
Next task is to try to improve video from my mini cam and I'll really start enjoying the Z2 and taking it out a bit furthur.

Generally poor video compared to the PZ0420 and focus goes off regularly even though lens is tight..... maybe one heavy landing too many I think !
I've just started to experiment with the mobius as an fpv cam. I'm interested that you can get an extension lead for the lens and potentially have the lens embeded up front and the main mobius body elsewhere...
Anyway, I'll let you know how I go on with the Fy41 lines.

I have a 690TVL Ultra WDR Pixim SEAWOLF HD CCTV Mini Camera 2.8mm Lens OSD this is on the net for £50 ish. Fantastic picture but if you need a mini cam probably no good. The problem is none of the individual manufacturers want to take responsibility with each saying it's the others product. My video guru club mate is a retired bbc engineer and he said it's either the power module or incompatible voltage regulators in the vtx and camera. It is much better With the separate battery to the vtx. I have 2 models exactly the same spec except the camera. The seawolf is by far the better. One thing though. Make sure you have a common earth for the camera and vtx. Or power cam and vtx from same external battery or it won't work, of course osd vid volts will be wrong but it is anyway. I wondered if it is the same with a 5v camera and step down? Or a different vtx. Must be some reason why some users don't get it. Btw have you removed the red lead from your ESc? I have not and it does not seem to make any difference.

Many thanks for that info sorry it's taken a while to get back to you. I did as you suggested and tried powering the vtx from a seperate batt which as you said eliminated most of the lines. I also tried powering the camera direct from the balance port of one of the 4cell batts , through an lc filter which seemed to make for a big improvement too. (on the kitchen table)

The camera is giving pretty poor results, so I'm going to try the mobius as an fpv cam, as you say, maybe a cam on 5v will help.

Looks like you have a few issues there, see the top of the picture starting to curl in, that`s normally down to your video signal level. Normally fixed with a 100 ohm resistor.
Either placed between the video signal wire and the ground of either the camera the OSD video output
