Quite scary letting an iPad control your Hexcopter. BLOODY AMAZING though.
DJI Ipad Ground Station - Flying the Hexcopter on Waypoints. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7o1kLkRAaPc#ws)
Good video Simon, looked bloody cold. I would agree the first time it must have been terrifying :) But it does look like it worked well though :)
That did look scary. What sort of range can you still have control over the quad?
It is on 2.4ghz so I guess as far as that normally goes. DJI claim 1 mile!!! Was solid link all the way for me, saying that furthest was 600m away.
Nice vid Simon,
Well Spektrum are probably one of the shortest range 2.4ghz systems out there.
I've managed to get 1.5 mile on my dx8.
So should in theory match that or almost match it.
I remember the first time I did this with an APM.. I nearly soiled my pants!
So I need Ipad then :)
Looks scary to me ,but it's working.
Doesn't it upload the waypoints to the FC? If so surely it could fly as far away as you want, providing you have enough capacity in your battery. You just couldn't intervene mid flight if you got scared...

Yep exactly that. Also if it goes out of range it carries on with the flight as it has them stored on it. It is amazing to watch.
Yep get an Ipad Marcin and you will be hooked on this bit of kit. I am looking forward to pushing it next to see how far it will go. Should indeed match the Spektrum stuff.
That solution is actually really nice if you do AV.
Is that DJI Groundstation soft working on all Ipad's - or it's heavy one and need fast expensive Ipad ?..no clue on this one ,never own Ipad sorry.
I am using it on an Ipad Mini that is about 6-8 months old. It needs Bluetooth 4.0 on it.
I have mine rigged to the laptop
but yes its really strange as they just fly off and do there thing...
