Title: Robs venturi build - uber quick!
Post by: rob.thomson on January 23, 2014, 11:22:15 PM
So...

4 hours on and we have this.

I still need to get the video, att convert and UHF done,  but that won't take long.

Biggest issue is that my UHF RX is 'in the post'

Certainly needs allot of lead!

Next job - cover it with something pretty :)

Oh I was just going to say. "Thank goodness you didnt spend hours on the finish. Its meant to fly not to look at!" Oh well no point in saying that now :blank:

Mind you fluorescent pink and green is my choice, to help see it in the sky and find it in a field if you have to

Lol.  I will not be covering it until all the bits are wired up and working .

That sadly means waiting for the vtx and RX!

:)

Why not put a 2.4 Ghz rx (e.gD4R-II) in it while you are waiting and go fly   :)

Well.

I have 4 FPV models, and 12 los models...  So not really much of a rush :)

Still waiting for the vtx etc.
But did some 'prettiness' today :)

Not doing anything fancy.  I feel less desire to make FPV models look good.  Guess its because I can't 'see' them when flying!

It's a strangely south African theme going on!

Guess it shows my heritage!

Hopefully get it flying in the next few days.  Just need to wait for my wife to go our for the pm of am!

Looking good Rob

Personally I would have put the Rx and Vtx much further out along the wings away from the Noisy Keyfob camera

True.   I will see if it is an issue in practice.

Reality is I don't really fly outside of 2km, so hardly pushing the limits :)

Has my first flight with the venturi today.

Very windy!

All seems to fly OK.   It feels very... 'Heavy' in the air.  I think then cog will need to be moved back a bit.

Launching it is.... Interesting!

Otherwise....  All OK.

I put weight on my vent to hit the cog, and then found it needed loads of continual up to keep it level. Took it off again and it flew much better. I reckon the cog could therefore be further back than the manual suggests.

Can I ask what uhf you're using. Is it really required for 2k? I guess that's around the 2.4 limit.

Agree on the cog.  :-)

I am using Rlink.  (royalway)

It works very well.

Iat the range we are talking,  the advantage of UHF is that you get control through objects,  and low to the terrain.

Try fly 30 Feet off the deck,  1km away on 2.4.  It's not happy :-)

That sounds fun. Might try and get my uhf running. Long walk if you go a little too low.
