The pipe has some surface rust, it looks to have been lengthened. I've taken the bubbled paint off using a screw driver, the engine has some fuel marks but i'll get them off. The pipe i may replace or just repaint.
Will run it on the weekend!
More work done today, didn't get a chance to start it. But took the glow plug out. It has fuel all over it.. Made it an incense and it glows fine. Then I've cleaned it all up with hpi car cleaner. I've replaced the pipe which as a home made one robbed the engine of lots of power as it was way too small! Hue thanks to mayoor at monarch models .couk as he have me this pipe for free! I have also replaced the silencer screws which were rusted with new hpi ones

Seems good value, i've got a sound engine and will pass the savings on the airframe onto good quality hardware and decent servos to make it a reliable plane!

More work done today, yesterday I glued the tailplane section together and onto the airframe. I've managed to find a align 520 servo which i'll use on the throttle. The other 3 servo's will be futaba 3003's which i've managed to get new for £5 each!
Bad news is that I screwed up one of the wings as the hinges had to be half in the wing before glueing as the aileron system was installed in the aircraft by HK before being hinged, this meant you couldn't get the aileron off the wing. This was bad as it only had around a 2cm gap at the end meaning i could not fit the hinge to glue it propperly blah blah blah... In the end it ended up hinged with a 1cm gap... I've cut them off and out and will get the lhs to do this as he is like jesus when it comes to building planes, he could do it for me when drunk and blindfolded in the international space station!
I've also been doing other menial tasks on the airframe, filled the tank with water to check that it doesn't leak, then I need to fit it to the aircraft. It'll be easier without the other bits blocking the way when getting it secured and connected to the engine etc!

On the other hand, it doesn't look like a bad kit, especially for the price. Might make a good first low winger for my young lad.
Keep us up to date, and when you cut your fingers starting it make sure you send is the pics. (Hint : use a leccy starter or chicken stick)

makes a nice change reading about IC engines, makes me want to get the flight box out, what is the plane & are you gonna fpv it?
I spot a problem....looks like you could be missing a prop driver or is it just loose on the bench?

LOL pics of fingers reminds me of starting my little 049 after school in cold weather and chopping my own fingers It hurt so bad i can still remember it :(

Yeah the prop driver was loose on the bench, I was cleaning it up!

Plan is to have a nice los nitro hack. May fpv it but atm thats low on my list as i've got to finish my quad first!
