Title: The NoseyStation
Post by: bignose13 on February 05, 2014, 07:19:09 AM
Hi Guys
Just thought I'd share my build of my new all dynamic GS
I met Heliotroope (Richard) the other day at my friends Castle for him to have a flight around the ruins, Richard runs his own UAV Business and the practice would do him good.
Richard got his GS from his car and it was posh as, bastard, much better than the VRX stuck to a bit of MDF and painted black trying to look like a "Mean MotherFu**er" that I had,
Anyway, I got home and got thinking, 7 years in this hobby and I still aint got a nice tidy all in one unit, which is easily transportable and not needing 7 arms and 14 hands
Also I wanted it to have 5.8 and 2.4 switchable, I fly 2.4 video with my planes, just wont beat it but thats another argument
SOOOOO, on the Bay I went
Heres a list of the things going into the GS
Battery Monitor

Signal Booster/Splitter
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190601809481?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190601809481?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649)
Switchacle on/on switch, basically, left for 5.8 and right for 2.4
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270978413883?var=570087537374&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270978413883?var=570087537374&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649)
LED for the 5.8 VRX, the RX led is at the bottom of the GS and cant see if the VRX is on or off, this will replace it so I can see if the VRX is on ok, the 2.4 LED is at the top and not a problem

I'm using and integrated battery so this will socket will connect straight to my charger and save me getting the battery out every time I want to charge it

And of course a bit of bling to cover it all

First pics from Stefan who has the laser CNC machine and who did some of the designing

Looks a bit sparse without the carbon covering but you see how it's gonna look, I kept the Phono plugs to the right of the unit for easy access to the goggs
If anybody has seen the Infamous "Crash with fruity language" vid you'll see what I mean
Anyway more to come and it wont take long as I need this up and running asap or I dont fly, simples

Nice job - it'll look sweet as with the carbon wrap on it.

With all the crap weather you've had plenty of time to achieve perfection :D  It should look really good with carbon fibre wrap - I like the big red switch or is it a panic button :o. One nice thing about a GS is that it should last a long time, unlike some aircraft. I look forward to seeing it soon - although the weather shows no sign of getting better yet.

Perhaps an amphibious GS is required?
