hi , just wanted to say that i took my twinstar out today for a test flight with the fy21ap ap117 , it flew brilliantly in quite gusty conditions. took it up a second time and completely lost signal to my tx and cam due to battery falling out of its slot, flicked switch to RTH, didnt see any thing for a bit so began walking with tears in my eyes across the park to look for it , looked up and there she was making her way home!!!! i was gob smacked. Amazing bit of kit i am chuffed to bits!!! ;D
Well done sounds like it was a wise investement ...
Sweet, great sucess story. The FY21 does get rave reviews. For the price you just cant knock it, great result :)
This might be a daft question - but I assume that if you lose contact with the plane it will activate the RTL as well as hving to flick a switch? Same with the DOSD+? ET etc?
I feel stupid asking as it would seem to be an obvious thing - but then tonight I have seen two references to 'flicking the switch'
Congratulations by the way on getting your plane back! It must be great to know the investment in a safeguard piece of kit worked for you! Money well spent I'd say! :)
Yes, it does RTH on R/C signal loss....
....down side of that is that if you've set it up correctly with ~50% throttle on failsafe/RTH and you have it in your hand with the model powered up and turn your R/C Tx off (either inadvertantly or intentionally)....the motor starts up at 50% - keep your pinkies outa the way !
Great bit of kit though and another model saved :)
Nigel.
Excellent result.
The DOSD+ is similar. AP RTH is activated via a switch on the tx, you just set-up your failsafe on that channel to 'AP on' then if your tx should fail the failsafe goes on & AP is activated.
thanks chaps, i would have to say it was the best money i have spent on anything, I am no techy by any stretch of the imagination and i found it easy to set up on my twinstar. I am still grinning from ear to ear at the sight of it slowly flying back to my launch point , it felt so weird to not have a tx in my hand watching it fly !!
I've been thinking about one of these
Great to hear where its worked and come home
I strongly recommend this system , i am no expert but this has saved me a load of heartache!! i dont think my telephone number and the 40 pound reward would have done much good where i was flying.
ONE THING TO REMEMBER!!!! apply enough power to fly it home, if you don't they stall and spin in!!
yeah it was i think by chance i left 50 % throttle on as i was sweating a bit at the time!!!
