Title: New motors for tricopter - what to choose?
Post by: iwan_canobi on February 16, 2014, 11:57:32 PM
So I'm currently battling with vibrations in my video on my rcexplorer tricopter, and think it might be down to one or more of my DT750's. I'm thinking of replacing them with something a bit higher quality, but not sure what to go for.

Have been looking at the sunnysky 980kv 2218's, or the NTM 28-30S 800kv.

Any recommendations? I'm using a 3S setup and 1045 props so would want to keep on that. Looking for well balanced and smooth motors.

i had the sunnysky's they're brilliant motors, tiger quality without the hefty price tag.

Having had NTMs and then Sunnyskys I'll second the Sunnyskys.  The NTMs were sort of ok once I had changed all the bearings, they're now in my "B" machine.  The Sunnyskys are super smooth, though.

Cheers! Will give the sunnyskys a go probably in that case!

that would be 30A total, not each motor individually. so you could get away with 15A ESCs... but would most likely use 20A just for good measure, they're still really small.
