Title: A couple of comedy shorts on water...
Post by: Granpaw Jonah on March 02, 2014, 05:13:29 PM
 Hey, this was Friday...
Kenmore Air Beaver on floats. Fail 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAzQNe6Bv7E#ws)
.... try again.....
.46 size Kenmore Air DHC-2 Beaver on H.K. floats. Fail 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9CE_5cR0aM#ws)
the rudder cable mounts supplied by Hobby King are TOTALLY feeble, all the supplied ones bar 2 broke in construction, ( they supplied 8 rubbish mounts made from inferior materials, surely 2 of sound construction would've been cheaper all round?) these last 2 broke seconds into their maiden 'Dunk'. Also there was no wind....I got home, got out a saw and cut holes in the wing for flaps.... maybe give enough lift for a take off.....
Yesterday I went out with my Catalina but it seems the receiver has packed up. I'm guessing from water ingression. Anyone got any good tips for waterproofing receivers please??

You've got some patience mate, i love your perseverance & optimism,
Dizzy's condom solution sounds great I wish I'd thought of that, not flown off water, have landed on some though (doesn't work to well on wheels). I use one of those little food containers with snap on lids from cheap shop for bits I want to keep dry on the quad, just feed the leads through a drilled hole & add a blob of silicone, three or four different sizes for a quid from cheapo shops & you can put a sandwich in the big one to take with you flying!

...Nice one CharlieW..ta..  ;). that is a good option for something like the Beaver in this vid 'cos it's so big but no room in the PBY remarkably. ( Radio is stowed in the wing pillar which has all the wiring running through it.)
Hey there Wiley Coyote......( I hope your pron-nouncin' that Kie-Yote boy.. :D ) Which one would you go for??

I'm a-thinkin' CorrosionX HD... the obvious would be 'Aviation' but my gear is getting submerged!.. 'S ok.... think I've answered my own question....HD...for now... an 'Aviation' next month on my FPV gear and (C)Raptor...( Ah..harsh!).. gone now.. cheers...
thanks...ta   'bye..
