I am curious to know where the balance point should be on a Quad. or is there a point where it should be for best performance. Similarly what are the consequencies if the CoG is not equidistant from each motor?
A quad should balance at the intersection of two straight lines drawn between diagonally opposite motors. Easy to test: hold two motors by the spinners, then the other pair, and move the battery until it is about right. This equalises the load on each motor in the hover in no wind. Gives the FC the best chance of producing a smooth flight and not overloading any one motor or ESC.
