The sun is shining, there's little wind - time for a midweek FPV maiden!
I've been following a thread on rcgroups for a carbon mini quad: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1965226 (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1965226)
I've flown a bit of LOS in the living room - wish me luck. If it survives i'll post up all the specs, if not then i may have to sulk a bit :P

Tidy.
Good luck!
Chris
thanks Chris!
It fles - Yay - I think i need to do some work on my throttle curves but overall I'm pretty pleased with the result - this is my second quad ever and still less than 10 (outdoor) fpv flights under my belt :D

Nice little machine!
Thanks Zee!
More info for anyone who might be interested in building one of these. I got a bit carried away whilst waiting for all the bits to arrive, and build the whole thing in 3d CAD. This helped me to work out where to put everything. I went for a full on dirty and clean platform with vibration mounts between them:

Full size footprint shown here, the motor centres just fit on a sheet of A4 paper (210 mm):

There's also the option for a stripped down super light race machine ;D

Using the hobbyking plates $5 each ( http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store..._HK_550GT.html] http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store..._HK_550GT.html (http://[url) ), and arms from the ZMR quad frame ( http://www.myrcmart.com/zmr-xpower-4axis-quadcopter-barebone-frame-p-6273.html (http://www.myrcmart.com/zmr-xpower-4axis-quadcopter-barebone-frame-p-6273.html) ), I only had to drill four holes (in total) in the base plates to fix all the arms and easily got an accurate rigid little frame. The ZMR frame was so cheap at $11 I bought two for spares, they came with a load of nylon standoffs which were perfect for building up the four layers of the fpv version. Total cost of the fpv frame is around $30 / £18 plus a few nuts and bolts.
I'm running some RCX 2400kv motors ( http://www.myrcmart.com/rcx-1804-2400kv-micro-outrunner-brushless-motor-anticlockwise-p-6280.html (http://www.myrcmart.com/rcx-1804-2400kv-micro-outrunner-brushless-motor-anticlockwise-p-6280.html) ) on a 1.3maH 3s lipo. Four Afro 12A esc'a and an openpilot cc3d.
So far it seems to pretty good ;) and hasn't broken the bank!
