I had built a discovery previous to this that was all working perfectly, using exactly the same camera, vtx, core and wiring.
I've now just finished building this second disco but when i came to test it I noticed something strange.. Connected as before when it was working and all I got was a black screen with the core overlay on top (lens cap was off before you ask ;) )
powered it down and checked the connections for a third time.. Nope everything was connected fine.
The next time I connected it I got nothing.. The vtx wasn't on, neither was the core, the core and vtx only came to life when I removed the lead to the camera.. As soon as I reconnected it they both went off again.
I removed the Vtx and camera and connected it all up separately in its simplest form.. 3s battery to Vtx to camera (5v camera). This is where the Vtx became very hot very fast and the LED on it had dimmed so much that it was hardly on at all. still no picture at all :/
The camera had come off a plane that i recently crashed so I'm thinking it is goosed and is the culprit here but i thought i'd ask you lot to see if a broken camera could knacker a Vtx?
Cheers,
James
Sounds like your camera has an earth fault after the crash that`s shutting down your core.
Could it be repairable? Ive had a look at the components inside and theres nothing obvious that i can see
It probably could be, but finding the fault on such a small compact board might be difficult
Hmmm, and I'm not too good with those sort of things
best just to buy a new Vtx and a new camera :)
Thanks for the replies though mate!
James
I wouldnt buy a vtx just yet, its probably just the camera
Ive tried the Vtx separately with a different setup thats definitely working and still got nothing :(
Ah right :( Maybe Tdmodels ( Tim ) on here could help you out, shoot him a pm
Hi James,
It's not the same VTx that I just repaired for you is it?
T
Im a bit embarrassed to say it it mate :-[
I must add that it is definitely not a fault on your behalf, it has been tested with another setup before this incident and was working perfectly.
You are more than welcome to send it back to me and I shall look to fix it for nowt.
Cheers Tim, i'll post it out tomorrow.
This is the last one I'm breaking... i promise ;)
I have just had a almost identical problem with my immersion 600mW Vtx but am able to identify that the problem is the loss of the 5v supply to the camera. An inspection shows no visible evidence as to the cause of the failure. Can this be repaired economically or will I have to buy a new one?
Hi acecall,
