I feel like I have been going in circles getting to the optimum ground station.
My UBER FUNKY (http://www.fpvhub.com/index.php/topic,18365.0.html) one works well, but really does make for allot of crap to carry around.
I have sort of gone a full circle on this one.

This is the KISS rule.
-tripod
- av power box to split power & video (http://www.readymaderc.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=269)
- pv700 recorder (http://www.bevrc.com/bevrc-pv700-high-quality-digital-video-recorder_p297.html)
- skylark att (http://www.skylarkfpv.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&path=35&product_id=91)
The plate on the tripod is a simple bit of ply, with two rails to 'grip' it to the tripod. A velcro hook & loop tape straps it to the polls on the back.
A small 5v regulator powers the pvr.
Job done!
Well sort of.
I have been battling with what seems to be allot of 'noise' on the PVR display. It curious - it occurs even if I power off the battery, and plug direct in to the skylark. Strange thing is.. same cables, and the goggles dont get the noise!
I am at a loss at to where the source of the noise is coming from!
Found the noise source.
The av cable has a broken ground cable!

So... Not a broken ground cable.
Rather a case of none of the cables I have matching up properly!
Seems the fatshark cables don't play in boscam equipment etc...
Rather annoying!
Anyway.. New cables ordered - so will get that problem sorted sometime soon.

I have had a few flights today with this setup.
Works well. Just a single back pack, 2 mins setup time, and super video clarity.
I have now ditched the video relay. I just plug in to the base.
Simple... Simple simple...

Glad its working well! Simplicity is the key :)

Andy
Indeed!
My other systems where perfectly functional, just started to get too bulky.
But I learned allot, and had fun making them :)
