I just got a dx8 and seem to be having probs binding to dsm2 receiver, anyone know why?

if you got a surface reciever, it won't accept control from an air transmitter. pwm timing is different. i have both dsm2 and dsmx orange rx. both bound fine to my dx6i, mistakenly got a ground orange, shows bound, but does nothing.
