Title: CP Or Linear?
Post by: Anarchy83 on April 22, 2014, 11:56:22 AM
Moving from 5.8 to 2.4. Can I get away with linear polarisation on 2.4ghz? Need to hear you experience and thoughts on this. Thanks.

I got better penetration with linear, and you should get better range too in theory but I never really tested that.

2.4 doesn't suffer from multipathing anywhere near as much as 5.8.

Id say fly with the linear when you get them, video wont be terrible like on 5.8, if youre not happy with it get some CPs.

Thanks Ratty. What antennas do you use/recommend?  Im thinking rubber duck and yagi? What linear antenna gives the widest field?

Ive only used rubber duckies on both ends. Im not really a fan of range so they suit me fine for low and close.  ;D

If you love your plane, want to go far, want good quality image etc etc then visit here http://www.circular-wireless.com/en/products-page/ (http://www.circular-wireless.com/en/products-page/)

If you wanna save some cash there are a few people on this forum who make quality CP antenna's - Bignose13, Flyn, Gav

Skew to skew is good, Helical to skew even better, diversity with skew and helical amazing, as above with tracking, priceless :)
