Its a 1.5m wicked wing slope soarer.
I have popped a motor on board, and nodded the fins + pushing them way way back to eliminate yaw rock.
It will carry a 2200mah pack with a 900kv motor, so should get me 15 to 20 mins of fun :)

Nope.
6mm carbon tube.
They are mounts onto a large ply plate I buried into the foam.

Shouldn't be an issue.The prop is about 5cm from them.
If you see the pictures, the rods are quite secure.
Even if it does vibrate - don't think it will be any impact on flight as no control surface on them!

Rob, what's the advantage of boom tails over vertical wing stabilizers?
Gets then well behind the cog.
Result is theoretically less wing rock.
It also means that discus launching it will be easier.

I would suspect that because the wing yaws around the cofg, as the wings are far back any yaw is amplified at the rear stabs hence presumably they would reduce the amount of yaw as they are more "sensitive" to it that's my theory ;)

The wickedFPV wing flies!
Only done first trim LOS.
I needed about 15g lead up front to balance it. And a washer to get the thrust line right.
Seems to track quite well.

Went for another flight. Still LOS.
I am VERY HAPPY.
I ended up adding a little more weight up front. It was just too unstable in the regular slope combat position!
The model tracks really well - and is stupid fast!
I am flying with a 1000kvm motor, with an 8x6 prop. It can pretty much go vertical!
It will cruise happily on 1/4 throttle. Loops, Bunts, Rolls - all dead easy and relatively smooth.
Result.
Now.. here is the fun bit.
These models cost around £30 delivered. This includes covering material. To full complete with esc, motor etc... I would guess around £80. Then the fpv gear. So maybe £150 all up for a basic setup.
Not bad!
Compared to something like the Phantom. Its a harder install. But it flies possibly better (assuming what you want is a rocket that is aerobatic!)
Sounds great. I'm glad the alternative tail arrangement is working too. I find it more robust than having fins at the wingtips.

There was a little bit of noise at certain throttle settings - just fixed that by moving wires and sourcing the power for the video system from the balance lead.

Where it does waggle more is if I slow it down.

Maybe add some winglets as well? They do also separate the upper and lower wing pressures and prevent vortices.
I was actually thinking some fences half way down the wing. They should enable me to push the cg back slightly too.

I found that this style of fin still had some movement on my Falcon at slow speeds. maybe a bigger and more efficient fin shape. Taller and thinner with a straighter leading edge. More wing like! would help
