Well,
I finally got there and finsihed the plane. I have not fitted the Video gear as yet, want to fly LOS without. Plane is balanced slightly talk heavy. Feels Like an epic to this point.
16:30 my brother-in-law is coming with me so that he can hand launch whilst I concentrate on not crashing...too soon.
Anyway, I am slightly nervous. I'll post some pics later. Plane intact or not.lol.

You should get it nose heavy for the first flight if anything..
Tail heavy planes do not fly well....

Well it all ended in tears...5 seconds if that and it went in. Not enough arispeed and the left wing stalled. Either I did not have enough throttle on or my Brother in law did not throw it hard enough. No one is being blamed, just mad as hell!!! Soo much work squeezed inbetween being a parent to a very young child and Ka Booom!!!
Guess I need some new wings. I have the upgarde motor and 8x6 tripple prop. Is it worth buying the new version for the wings and the motor housing?
Gonna be a few months, whilst I lick my wounds and get back to it.

I'll rebuild the plane and get me some Gorilla Glue and some shares in the stuff too me thinks. Maybe next time if there is someone in the south Lincolnshire area that I could go see and maiden the plane with; that would be helpful.

Yup - these need one hell of a chuck I found. You'll get there, easy fix.
.......Gosh man... these need at least 1/2 roll of gaffer tape before they fly properly. Stock is perfectly ok for this lumbering brute... 2/3 throttle, 20 degrees up from the horizontal..... MANLY chuck!

Building and flying a shuttle+ helicopter (oh so many years ago) was easier than this... However when i did eventually stack the helicopter I did a proper job and it was not rebuildable.

That was my first 50 size heli, didn't last very long, write off within a few weeks :)
it may be easy to fix to make it look OK again, but the integrity of that wing has now been compromised. I don't mind gluing up foam fuselages, but when a wing gets busted, I get a new one or buy a new airframe.

That's not true mate, I've flown many times on worse wings than that - you just need to do a proper repair.
Glue it up nice and true, then overlay with some strong tape top + bottom. It'll be solid as a rock.
Perfectly fixable, carbon rod gorilla glued in a channel, one on the top one on the bottom across the break after you have uhi'd the break. Then light weight filler to fill the now rodded channel to bring its looks back
maybe it's my own repair skills I don't trust lol
personally I'd just buy another one, keep the broken one for spares.
..All this talk of tape, glue and carbon rods in channels with filler is getting me a bit excited... I'm off to break something and get the crash kit out!!

Coyote: Yes had preempted this suggestion and 2mm dia carbon has been ordered. I am also going to insert some rods (cocktail sticks) into the break ends to act like a biscuit joint and then as Coyote suggested 2xCarbon rods above the break and 2 x below. The other issue is that the aileron also was snapped in two. Will do the same as the wing.
I have also contacted Voltanex to see if I can purchase the new motor mount and the revised main wing. they have given me the web address of a distributor in spain (the web site is all in Spansih with no English conversion; thank heavens for Google translate), but it appears that they do not have any stock. Anyone know where there are Raptor V2 planes with no electronics, I already have purchased upgrad servos, motor and ESC?
Gorilla glue I am intending to purchase today from Inwoods and then get to it. Plan is to have it back and ready for the weekend, wife and child permitting of course. Use the repaired wing as a test bed to Iron out all the idiosyncrasies and once the plane is sorted add the FPV gear and maybe change the wing and the motor mount for the new ones.

you see, that's the annoying thing about some planes... the necessity of modifying it to make it how you need it.
Only "mods" I've ever done to the skywalker aren't technically mods, they're just a few CF strips in the wings for extra strengthening.
the motor mount, the wings, the wing mounting solution, the fpv canopy area, the battery bay, the ESC bay, the T-Tail, the side door... all perfectly designed and implemented from the start.
all this talk about skywalkers is making me want to buy another one lol

I had the larger span one (2m?) and installed flaps on it and a bigger motor with an 8 x 6 prop. With a decent amount of flap for take-off it climbed away no problem - but did have a bit of a lumbering feel to it. Once in the air and at speed with the flaps retracted it was ok. Stick with it, it flies nice enough and on a calm day you'll get good footage from a GoPro stuck on it.
