Title: very sad my easystar died today in a tragic accident
Post by: MCPF1 on May 02, 2011, 01:58:16 PM
i was just trying my new improved easystar after adding ailerons. it was a bit sensitive but flying great when my motor started to cut out and i lost control of everything which ended in it breaking into three pieces. but on the plus side it was pretty cool watching it crash through my fpv gear. i have a zagi which i am interested in doing some fpv but not sure if it is a little overweight at 1.1kg. :( \0/ :'(

See you would mess with it by putting on ailerons.
I bet you can easily fix it. Get the Superglue out.

I am teaching myself to fly although i do more crashing than flying :)

I intend on glueing it and reglueing it untill it can be glued no more !

Not nice to hear what happened. Sounds like an esc fail especially if it was cutting out previously.

I would second that as this has happened to me with other models. Bad ESCs

i will change my esc and check if that works because that motor has been working for quite a while a the same thing happened when i put on an even more powerful motor. so i think you might be right.

I had an ESC go pop the other day, no reason to it, nothing was done different it simply decided its time had come and out came the smoke. It would still work the motor sporadically with no to little control and the power to the rx was intermittent... lucky it happened on the ground!

i had recently bought a knew motor because i thought that might be the problem. but unfortunatly it is taking forever to come and i am getting impatient so i will probably test it and tell you if it was with a new esc.

I had the same with an emax esc, i think i still have to board to show you. Two chips from the set were burnt out, being in the middle theres no way of telling unless you rip it apart. The ESC worked, but higher up the throttle range became random.
