Title: Spektrum Binding Issues

A problem is baffling me and I'd be interested if anyone has a clue as to what can have happened.

I have some seven receivers - Orange R710 and R620 - and Spektrum AR8000 and AR600 - along with a Spektrun DX7s and DX6i transmitters - all of which I've been using in different models for months or years entirely successfully. Now, suddenly, all these devices have become "unbound" from each other without any deliberate action on my part and now I simply cannot get any pairs to rebind. In all cases, I can get the receiver to go into bind mode correctly (flashing fast) and the transmitter says "binding" but after a few seconds the DX7s comes up with "Bind Failed" and the DX6 simply never succeeds.

[There is one exception in that the AR600 alone has not unbound from the DX6i, but any attempt to bind it to the other transmitter fails in the same way as do all the others.]

I have taken the models away from home to discount the possibility of electrical interference but even then have no more success with binding. I can't believe that both transmitters have developed a fault simultaneously - but it does really seem that whatever the transmitters should be sending to achieve the bind is simply not getting through.

Is there any explanation that I've failed to think of?

I can't offer any explanation how they have become unbound, but when I got my new TX (DX8) and tried to bind my RX's I had nightmares... And in the end it I found that I had to move the TX away from the RX by a few feet.

I was doing it on the bench and the TX and RX were inches away.. And 95% of the time, they wouldn't bind.. But then I simply moved the TX 5 feet away and retried and it bound every time.

Not sure if this will help..

Do you know anyone else locally  with a Specky outfit  that you can pair up with, maybe the local club to check it out.

not had any problems myself, but i seem to recall reading somewhere that TX and RX shouldn't be to close.

I forgot to mention that I've attempted to bind from varied distances.

Indeed, the most weird thing is that all transmitter and receiver combinations have somehow unbound themselves. A problem that's completely appeared out of the blue as I've used been using the equipment for months without issue. I am starting to wonder if something external could have caused my receivers to become defective. Is this even possible?

My next attempt to shed light on the problem will probably be to take one of my transmitters and receivers to my local hobby shop to see if they can bind using one of their transmitters with one of my receivers and then vice versa.

Just to update... and thanks for the suggestions.

I've  checked this out now with the help of a local retailer. It transpires
that the DX7s is definitely faulty - this will not bind with brand new
receivers in the shop. Also, the receivers I took along failed to bind with
a brand new DX7.. The retailer will return the Spektrum devices to Horizon
for replacement/repair... so that's good.. but it leaves me intrigued, and
with a number of dead Orange recievers! [I may try returning these also to
the respective online retailers but with little hope of success..]

Clearly for all these devices to fail simultaneously cannot be a
coincidence. My first theory was that some strong electro-magnetic force
zapped them while they were sitting in my house - we did have some strong
electrical storms around that time - but I'm persuaded that this simply
can't happen.. I now wonder if corrupted data being transmitted by the
faulty DX7s has somehow screwed up the data stored in each of the receivers - all the faulty receivers would have been paired and recently used with that DX7s - so as to make them unable either to recognise their existing binding or to create a new onw.

Could this last theory have legs? Presumably there is no way to perform a
"factory reset" or "flash" the receivers?

+1 micro electronics can be fried by strong electromagnetic fields.
