Title: Problem fitting S-Bus Futaba receiver to Phantom 1
Post by: wgt40w on July 19, 2014, 12:24:27 PM
Right, I've been fiddling again - as Coyote keeps telling me.

Phantom (1) Quad - I've removed the standard DJi ppm rx and fitted a Fr Sky TFR8 SB rx instead, hooked up to a Futaba T12 FG tx.

The good news is that having connected the Naza cable into the S-Bus port of the rx almost everything is working (test flight showed all major controls OK) as intended - except:-

Futaba T12 FG Channels have been monitored into Naza Assistant software, such that -

Ch 1 = Aileron
Ch 2 = Elevator
Ch 3 = Throttle
Ch 4 = Rudder
Ch 5 = Pitch control for camera gimbal
Ch 6 = IOC switch
Ch 7 = GPS / Atti / Atti switch
Ch 8 = Switch for retracting landing gear (New 'extra' made and fitted)

My problem is that the Channel 8 output from the rx doesn't seem to work.

Can it be that the S-Bus port in effect is using the Channel 8 ???

Any suggestions for a workround ?

Do I need to get an rx with more Channels (the tx can handle more Channels)

Been researching whilst awaiting a reply - Ian, where are you ??

I believe my only solution is to:-

- remove the S-Bus lead going from rx to Naza
- replace S-Bus lead with 7 short servo leads going from Channels 1 to 7 on rx to appropriate inputs on Naza
- insert normal servo lead from Channel 8 on rx to go to retracts

Now I will have 8 rx channels available, rather than s-bus 7 !
