I book marked planefinder.net recently, looks like they both work on the same technology, have you tried both?

Also planefinder seems to have better reviews on app store for my phone so I just installed that one to try out.

I expect these services are deliberately inaccurate and probably delayed.  So of absolutely zero use for avoidance.  Though great for plane spotting at the local airport.

If you are more interested in what is going on above your currently location I'd suggest you get an airband scanner and locate the correct frequencies for the area.  Marginally illegal, but your hardly likely to get done for it, if you even got to court stating why you were monitoring it will almost certainly get you acquited.

You will be surprised, the small fishing bout that I worked on, when I lived in Cornwall was hit by a big coaster, I was in my bunk down billow when it hit us, I woke up to the pleasant sounds of screaming and crunching, braking sounds :yikes:

well i have been trying to check both flight radar and plane finder and I will say at this early stage that flight radar seems to show more planes than plane finder, also its not that delayed as I had a plane over before at 600m above my house, checked flight radar and there it was less than 20 seconds delay I would estimate. This can be used to check for planes coming in your general direction and also to see what height they are flying at. Bear in mind though it wont show up all planes.
