A new member isjoining our club and has a brand new in box JR PCM9X 11.
He wants to fly quads and fixed wing ...So should I advise him to ditch the gear which is several years old and get a Spektrum DX6 or DX8 ...or get a Spectrum module for the JR kit?
Iguess that the JR kit would have some retail value as it stands in BNIB condition
What do we think??
Thanks
Adrian
Tough choice - top level JR tx BNIB with interchageable RF modules or Mickey Mouse Spektrum. OK I exaggerate about the Mickey Mouse, more Daffy Duck.
No contest.
Also you have a bigger choice of RF modules for the JR than Spektrum. I run my JR with a Corona module but a few others are available and a whole lot less expensive than Spektrum.
Ok thanks for your comments
I use a Futaba 8 channel tx with a Spektrum module which works fine for me..I accept no model match..but for a newbie it might be better to have this option!
I see on eBay that used models seem to go for £60-70
Does that sound about right? this one is absolutely brand new and comes with 4 DS servos...Oi might put it on the classifieds for offers?
thanks for the info on the H3 2D

My advice again is to keep the JR - top end tx with the versatility of RF modules. It's worth double the price you mention and more.
I have two and use them for flying LOS 550 rotors and other for Zephyr II and TBS Disco, great radio.
Thanks guys. For the info "I will pass this on to the owner..only downside for me as instructor / chairman...I know Futaba & Spektrum inside out but none of our 50 plus members uses JR! Though I believe that programming is similar to Spektrum?
defo one of the best tx's,flew my helis and planes for yrs with one..
when all the turnigys and fryskys have passed away JR's and Futaba's will still be in their youth ;)
