A few variations on Coyote's build
Having proved that the Vector works extremely well in the Twinstar, I splashed out and bought a new kit.
The line up is as follows:-
EZUHF radio link
Vector OSD / Stability control
Turnigy 8
60 KV motors
30A escs
Phantom 1.1.1 props.
Decided that £10+ per item was too much to pay for Multiplex motor mounts,,,so built my own from plastic wastepipe ,,all plastic welded together.
To get a good firm motor mount I first welded a straight pipe connector on the pipe, then cut off all but 3-4mm. This produces a flange onto which you weld the motor plate ...for this I used plastic square conduit which welds just fine with the standard plumbers welding jelly.

Looking goo so far. Nice idea with the motor mounts :)
Taking it slowly but its coming together now!
The body shell is now pretty much preloaded with the kit and this morning I have glued in the motor mounts to the nacelles..I have settled for using epoxy, having tried a couple of alternatives. As the plastic pipe is quite smooth I have scored the surface to improve the adhesion...I don't think it will come out in a hurry and there is no problem accessing the motors if required. Only problem so far was an incorrectly marked Turnigy 860KV motor ..the second motor I fitted and ran up took twice as much current as the first ! Little point in trying to send back to HK ..so ordered another one and that runs just fine taking 15-16A on a 4 cell ...so flat out the two motors will deliver a little over 500 watts to the airframe which will be more than ample! I know that the original airframe was quite happy to cruise at under 5A.

G-FPV First successful flight completed this afternoon...Near perfect conditions went out a couple of K ..up to 500 feet and a couple of RTHs All absolutely spot on ...followed by an FPV landing a few feet away from me. So all the work has been well worth while. This is the first time I have tried the video tx in this position and it worked very well..no 'shadowing from the battery when in the overhead.
Will probably bling it up a bit more in due course but here it is as of today. Couple of points..I fitted a grommet on the LHS of the fuselage to cover up the USB access hole to the Vector (lots of careful lining up!) Inspection hatch covers over the EZUHF receiver..really like the SBUS idea ..turning my 4 channel rx into an 8 channel with just one servo cable running through the fuselage.

With the weather ill suited to flying I have been doing a bit more tweaking on the Vector...There is so much in there ! I have now set colours to indicate battery levels mAH etc ..Whilst the figures are OK to read..its much easier to scan the screen for the correct colours...Three Greens and all that!
I have also set up some alarms for the RSSI and battery
Question Can you plug in an earpiece to Dominator goggles?

I'm a fan of the ET Vector, looks like it's working well for you too.
I had the benefit of doing a dry run with my ancient Twinstar.....installing the kit in the two halves made things a lot easier..only mistake I made wade forgetting to widen the fuselage to accommodate the 4 cell battery..the original had worn wide with the many insertions of batteries over several years!
