Title: 2.4ghz receiver antenna V
Post by: Beer-Matt on October 26, 2014, 04:11:47 PM
what is the best way to mount a 2.4ghz receiver antenna? I see more and more in the V configuration. Does this improve range and reception?  ;D

Nothing will give you a range boost, but putting it in a V formation means as the craft rolls left and right you get a better reception than with one single antenna vertically mounted.

If its on a multicopter it will be mostly flying level, so mounting in a V is best. If your putting it in a say acrobatic plane wanting to yank and bank a lot normally a L formation is best because the plane will be in all sorts or orientations

It's going on a quad so I'll stick with the V. Next question, where is the best place to mount the V? I'm thinking center facing upwards. Is it best to stay away from the video transmitter?

Best place is as high as possible with the two pointing up around 45 degrees apart

Yes keep away from Vtx, receivers should never be near transmitters. Receivers next to other receivers are fine though.
