Title: Servo Amplifiers
Post by: g4uvz on December 20, 2014, 08:50:00 PM
In the good old days when I built up servos from kits there were a few firms about selling servo amps ..I have 4 EFLR 7145s all with dead amps ..following an over voltage experience !  Not bothered about a didgital amp ..a good old analogue would be fine ..bu no one seems to sell these nowadays?

Basically Servo Amps died out since microcontrollers can do the job. I designed one once!

You can still get the analog ones on Ebay e.g ZN409 (http://www.meditronik.com.pl/doc/plus/zn409.pdf), but very pricey...

Alternatively have a look at Openservo (http://openservo.com/)

Thanks Andy for the info ..yes i have some of the Ferranti chips some where!  but they are just a bit too big for my application ...Its a shame maunfacturers dont sell spares for the higher end servos ...throw away society in which we live!
hand a look at the servo site ..but the input seemed to have more than 3 wires !  too many for me!

I dont think you have to use 5 wires. The standard RC servo input is only a pulse where position is a simple function of pulse duration so trivial to do ...

Anyway says it is supported..
