Post by: Funky Diver on July 20, 2011, 09:21:28 AM
Anyone used this for priming a foamie / EPP etc?

Review if you have, wanna get my airbrush in action, but don't fancy spending a tenner if it's cack.

I'm gonna give the plastic primer I have in the garage a pop first...
high build too so should ease out some of the daft holes in polystyrene.

Halfords Plastic Primer works a treat...

Used some engine enamel over the top (possibly the most corrosive paint I have just to test!) and where it's sprayed onto bare foam... melt, but on the plastic primer, not a mark.  Job sorted :)

apparently I used it on Z-Foam (ie some parts of my Barge)

In all honesty , it mostly looks like polystyrene to me, but with different additives :P

When my SW arrives, I'm gonna do a test on any bits that I chop out, eg the blocks from the flap servo's, etc.

I just put one (or 2 thin) coats of water based polyurethane varnish on foam first, it forms a skin and will take any paint you have.

+1 vote for the Halfords fluorescent paints, very good
