Title: is it the makins of a UFO
Post by: g.collins on July 30, 2011, 11:04:21 PM
Hi Guys,
I have been a bit busy today, putting the UFO together, its a bit unstable, and when it goes it goes, it flipped over ones or twice. I had to turn up the gane so much, that it wobbles in hover, I may tack it a bit farther and do a few more tests, :-\ but I cant see that its going to be a stable platform. Good fun tho.
regards G :)

it looks good Steve, but as soon as it moves, it wants to flip over, I think the flat area of the disk, acts like a wing, so as it tilts forward to move its over, I need a wind tonal. Lol

I found this G

Love the concept guys but i have enough difficulty with orientation as it is :D it would need a smoke trail or something for me to fly one

lets see something bigger and more sinister  to take out late evenings or early mornings and get the local press talking  ;D

that vid proves it would look brill
nice work

I have seen this before, its great, o yes it will work, I just think it needs to be bigger, this one on the video, hasn't got the flat areas making up the disk, I'm beginning to wonder weather the motors I have are all working right, there cheep and small, I think one of them cuts out now and then, which makes it drop on one side, that's what I think is flipping it. I will fined out which one it is, and sort it out.
I think I'm doing to much at the moment and don't no what to do first, on top of witch I'm trying to run my company. HELP

regards G

Forra true ufo look... I reckon take the main circly shape... then another ring of foam around it so that you can encase some tape LED's into the foam, making the outer ring "glow" when they're on

Nice little motor Badwolve,
I will look in to them, I think as far as the UFO goes, it is to heavy, its a little over 300g and the motors I have only create just over 100g, so that's a little over 400g total thrust, I don't think this is sufficient, yours is over 200g on the same prop per motor, with only 8g pr motor extra weight.
thanks G

In reality, my fox can give a burst of 300G :) It stops when the ESC overheats as i buried it in foam :P

I've started designing a UFO Quad, based on these motors :)
Thinking of trying to selling the design to Mplx in return for a lifetime supply of Funjets and Easystarts :P
