Title: my V-tail Quad V3 FPV Build Progress
Post by: martink1974 on October 12, 2011, 06:18:00 PM
Not Posted Much Reciently so thought i let ya all know whats going on in my jumbled brain lol

My first Quad Went well untill i had 2 brave pills one day and it fell from 1500 feet :(

so i built another out of wood this time similar design to see if it helped get rid of few vibrations in first build, this went ok but was too much flex in wood, and my v1 allways flew a little nicer,

i also wanted to go FPV on my quad for a while now so decided to build a v3 :)

this time i decided to use trex 600 tail tubes and clamps to make it a little bit less Heath Robinson

trying to make it so

3mm ali composite the plates are cut out of

my plan is that in mishap only the trex tail tubes will bend and are easy changed and cant twist in fittings

made motor mounts plates out of polycarbonate and thinking of doing same for body top and front

having to cross drill everything to save weight

do you just set up the controller to fly in X configuration?
Title: Re: my V-tail Quad V3 FPV Build Progress

no m8 ,

im using copter control (open Pilot) wITH custom mix it flys like a tri the 2 motors at the back dont move like tri it just regulates motors at back to control yaw and keep its bum off ground :), the bigger one im using ardu mega controller for and i will use a y4 mixer

i recon you can make anything fly with copter control

I'm guessing that is a test rig martink1974, it looks like acrylic, if it is it will be a bit brittle, I have a laser hear and would love to make the hole thing in clear acrylic, it would look cool, but the way I keep crashing it wouldn't last long.

hi

been tidying workshop / kitchen :)

im getting there with it been busy last few days

its not acrylic it is polycarbonate i got load of sample sheets of stuff to play with , when i built the big one i liked the aluminuim composite cos it was so ridged but after testing stuff i got, that polycarbonate clear stuff is strong stuff, its amazed me when trying to destroy pieces :)

when i get design 100% id love to get some cut out perfect

will look sweet when done :)

polycarbonate is tuff stuff you will be OK with that then, I cant cut polycarbonate on a laser, it wrecks the laser, I could cut it on the CNC, I will be watching this one with interest.

not sure about hover values , planning to fly on goggles tomorrow , aslong as summat dont go wrong :)

redoing esc calibration , solved leveling issues , nearly there would have helped if i charged battery but was between showers
