Title: BlueFlyer's Z84 Wing Wing
Post by: BlueFlyer on April 11, 2015, 06:21:44 PM
I ordered this a while back and completely forgot about it till the other week. A quick rummage around my garage and I realised I had no motor for it, so off to HobbyKing I browsed and ordered a cheeky little 2200kv for it which arrived this week whilst I was away in Wales. Well this morning, my Daughter was hogging the PC playing Minecraft, the Missus was hogging the TV catching up on soaps... so I threw this together in 45 mins lol :)

no OSD or HD cam on board, but will stay close by and record received footage on my Dominator's DVR

should be fun to just throw in the car with the rest of my gear :)

Looks great. How big a battery can you get in there?

2200mah 3S fits perfectly lengthways, it's a tad nose heavy though so I'll invest in a few smaller ones soon but for now a bit of up trim will be fine.

45 mins and I bet you it turns out to be one of your favourite airframes!

Was my z-84 smaller, or am I just really crap at fitting stuff in.  I had mine on a 2200kv 3s motor for a while with a 2200 lipo, I could barely get the canopy on, and I had the VTX, ESC and camera external !

I loved my first Wing Wing, but I never flew it FPV. After the flying I did with my hacked together wing last month, I had to get another small/medium wing. I was going to get the new Falcon Evo FPV, but remembered I had this in the garage lol

haha, the VTX is recessed into the underside of the canopy, not ideal for heat dissipation, but it'll only last in the air for about 10 minutes at a time lol. the ESC is right there in the back pushed right up against the motor mount. the RC rx is pushed right up against the ESC and just a tad under the spar.

This is the same motor/prop setup I recommended for your Z84 Wayne, it's perfect :)

you must have a OSD though, it wasn't difficult getting it all in there ;)

The prop motor worked great, but with 3 800mm (ish) planes now, I've gone back to a light 2s setup on the wing wing.  It flies really slowly and gently around the little enclosed field I have access to.  The other 2 are on 3s and go a fair bit faster :)

I didn't have anything else in there, I don't know what's wrong with me for fitting stuff on nicely.  I'm even pretty damn good a Tetris, but it looks like the slotting things in cleanly skill doesn't transfer over.

Looks like it will be fun! Is it the Turnigy 2200kv motor you got? I've got that on my radjet and its got plenty of power with a 6x5 prop, although seems to get pretty hot! Its nice having a super simple build every now and then, its amazing how quickly things go when you aren't faffing around with OSD's and autopilots!

if it's the turnigy 28/26 2200kv motor then the prop you want for speed is the 6x4 apc.   happy flying

Yes, I've got the 6x4e prop from hobbyking on this wing.

genuine apc props are stiffer and more efficient.  you'd notice the difference from a hobbyking one i reckon.

It's only a wing wing. The difference would be negligible, certainly not worth me swapping from the prop already on it.

Also, just realised its a TGS prop
