Title: RSSI Diversity
Post by: mark on May 10, 2015, 12:12:22 PM
Hi I ve knocked up a tracker based on rssi. It works ok on 2 rc 305 receivers with 1 helical on each with the rssi taken off the 6th pin . Im thinking to replace them with 2 diversity auto scan rx s (fr632) with 2 helical s on each to give a wider and more vertical spread. There s obviously 2 rx in each so would I take a wire of the same pins and join them together to give a combined rssi from each diversity rx. Hope this come s out sounding english not chinglish.

No it doesn't work like that, each individual receiver has its own RSSI value so they need to be measured by the diversity circuit independently.

The easiest way in my mind to use 2x receivers each with their own built in diversity to give you 4 way diversity is taking each receivers output to an Eagle Eyes diversity unit.

The receivers will pick the best signal from the two antennas attached to them, then the receivers output ( one from each receiver ) can go to the Eagle Eyes and then decide which picture is best ( does also not need RSSI as it compares pictures )

You would be better off with just using a diversity receiver on the center rx?
