Title: FPV Racing Fun in Somerset 60fps
Post by: JAB1a on May 13, 2015, 11:34:44 AM
Hi All,
Here is a quick practise race I got to have with Somerset FPV Racing Group, I had been flying the Spanky 5 all morning so thought it was time to take the Spanky 6 up with the GoPro to get some nice footage. During the second lap the wind did pick up a bit but that added to the challenge. Both quads are running 3s on 5" props.

The excellent custom Air gates were provided by the brilliant chaps at Hoverspeed RC, check out their website for awesome FPV racing gear:

That looked like great fun, nice edit.

I still don't like the look of them hoverspeed airgates, much prefer James' home made version.

Great video, and super smooth flying as ever ! Loved the gate smash at 56secs, it just plugged back together like new ;) Also gopro hit at 1m20s looked spectactular, was it marked ? I always use the skeleton case on gopro just in case it gets a whack !

Cheers All and thanks James, the camera hit was my Mobius Wide Angle camera, it was placed on my kitchen egg timer so it was super low profile on the ground, the quad that hit it must of crashed or in the process of crashing after hitting that, Me and then Phil go through the gate and then not sure which quad hit. Tough as old boots with only the normal battle scars visible on the camera ;)

The GoPro was being held safe by the Spanky 6 when ever it was on the course for filming so should of been safe (famous last words lol)

Thanks for an excellent morning racing JamesB72!

Excellent! My flying 'accuracy' is in need of a lot of practice before I think about joining you, one day maybe.

Thanks Chris, as this is all for fun there is no harm in you joining or setting up your own, its excellent practise being pushed by all the other pilots and I am sure you would surprise yourself at how well you would  :D

I'd encourage anyone interested to just build there own FPV course and practice alone or with a small group. You can get everything required for very little money from screwfix or toolstation and put together in about 30 mins with just a tape measure and hacksaw.
