My DJT module in my tx was fudged and I have only been getting 250m before the dreaded low signal beeps have started, so I scored myself a new 'un and what a difference! The furthest I've ever flown before was 520m with my old f450 quad, which was my first proper FPV flight in 2013(technically my second but the first lasted under 2 minutes in strong wind before a motor failed...lol)
Last night I managed a whole km ;D ,admittedly not far by others standards but a smile inducing record for moi! I don't know how much further I could go with my setup, just fatshark attitudes and 600mw vtx with skew planars, I think these will run out of range before the tx.

Baby steps is the way to do it. Next time go to 1km do a circle then push to 1.5km, do a circle and go to 2.
Thanks, yeah, good plan. I'm waiting on a remzibi OSD to arrive so I can see my distance, height etc so for the meantime (if the wind buggers off!) I'll check google earth for distances from where we go flying and maybe just do 100m further a go, will be a little less scary than trying to push another 500m.
I'm really loving fpv with a wing ;D
Yeah defo wait till you have your osd, so easy to get lost!
Found that out the hard way when I was 3km out on a foggy day with no OSD on an AXN. Every way I looked seemed pretty much the same, fortunately I just about brought it home.
Nice one well done, tiny steps and always getting back safe is the way to do it :D
Just don't take her surfing in your first year like I did ;)
dizzy :)
Thanks, by the looks of the weather forecast I'll be getting the OSD before flying again.... :(
Why am I looking at bigger wings now :+........ must remember need to pay bills..........

;D It's bad enough with multirotors, but the FPV wing experience is a lot more enjoyable than I ever imagined. Trouble is the thoughts that start to come along....I really need to have something that will carry a gopro, I need something that will fly further out, I need an FC with RTH, ooh trackers...... Help!!!!!!
There is no help I'm afraid... Just embrace it! Get some practice in, then move on to something you really want. Don't do it to early cos you smash it and get pissed off
Nice one on the PB :)
Your video link should have a fair bit more in the tank yet, well over double that with no problem.

TBH I was amazed how easy this little wing is to fly, I've not tried launching it myself yet and have been putting the goggles on and getting my mate to launch it, applying power just after it leaves his hand, it seems to work well  I think this is something I want to learn to do before getting something else as obviously launching is a breakage waiting to happen and one day my mate is going to get fed up and say 'Just do it your f***ing self' lol. Then there is landing......
Are the bigger wings just as easy to fly? I would imagine the greater the size the more stable?

Cheers ;D
I got a bit scared with the first tiny flickers(I'm becoming a big girls blouse in my old age lol), I've seen plenty of videos where the signal seems to flicker out for a moment or two and comes back so guess you can go through it to a point but I started thinking 'what if the signals worse when I turn back round'
I used to launch my wing wing FPV by holding the right wing close to the canopy and then flinging it as I applied power. Big wings can be easier or harder depending on their size/weight and how much power they have. My Falcon wing is probably the easiest plane I launch, but it doesn't really need a throw, it just goes. You certainly get more stability with weight, but even the larger ones can have that quite annoying yaw wobble in any wind.
I completely understand about the static - once you are out to 1km, it's a hell of a walk and then probably quite a search, so those filckers can make you want to turn around completely. As soon as I had an RTH system installed, I tried pushing through this flciker I always got and it was just that - a flicker. The air up their is weird, you can go through a good 20 seconds of terrible staticy picture at 4km and then come out the other side and it's lovely again.
