Hey everyone, thought I'd make another thread just for this version since it is quite different.

!!! PLEASE DO NOT USE ARDUINO 1.0 SDK! IT will break things! use 0.22 or 0.23 instead !!!

This firmware is designed for long range so non essential things have been taken out. If you need telemetry, use v1.5.

Poor Man's FHSS
Channels are grouped in sets of 3 and you can manually hop between sets by short pressing the TX button. You can add as many sets as you want but always keep a common channel! be sure to change CHNO to your total channel number and always have sets of three !

Booster Friendly FW for TX
If you have Melih's booster you need to make BOOSTER 1 in config.h. This changes the output power from 1 0 0 mw to 50mw which is the recommended input power for the booster.
Short insight on the booster: all I can say is, minimum power, 124mA current draw, 1.5km ground range through buildings and a hill lol.

DIVERSITY
The Diversity algorithm is very simple: Second receiver acts as a repeater for the incoming signal. Simple and effective :D
Hardware Installation is very simple, just use a 2 wire Servo cable to supply the slave RX with GND and VCC from onw of the master RX's free servo ports or other 5V supply.
Software Installation: Just load the openLRS_RXS firmware onto the slave receiver and you are ready to go.
RSSI on the slave RX is still available either on pin 8 (v2 hw) or pin 9 (v1 hw)

RSSI: V output: min/max 0-3.2v
CALIBRATION:
uncomment Serial_RSSI in the config.h file (the RX one) and with you TX and RX ON check the outputted value in the Serial Monitor ( going in the other room might increase the value lol ) and that should be your max RSSI output.
in the config.h change the max value accordingly:

#define RSSI_MAX 110 //turn on the RSSI debug and see what values you r getting at close range....
#define RSSI_SMOOTH 60 //increase if the Vout is still jumpy.
RSSI ON v2 BOARDS IS on CH 8 !
If the Vout is still jumpy, increase RSSI_SMOOTH and recheck your RSSI_MAX

In Flight Fail-Safe: nothing to change/calibrate here. Simply press and release the TX button after 2 secs and your F/S values are stored. You should see the red LED on the RX blink when FS has been saved.

Hi,
I have been trying to get the RSSI working on version 1.10 UK and cannot seem to get any output on either servo 9 or 7. Did I miss something that I have to set in the config.h
Many thanks for working on this mod, I am really getting to like OpenLRS.
I am using PPM output on servo 8 and this is all working fine.
Further investigation has found that the RSSI is being output if run in non PPM mode but as soon as pins 1 and 3 are connected the RSSI output ceases.
I am unable to find any documentation on this so your input would be much appreciated.
Ok, after getting sick to the teeth of Chainlink receiver stock, i think ill pull the trigger on this and give it a go.

I used the latest release from thundead and got RSSI Output on servo 7.

Question for the knowledgeable (and programming skills)...
If we used OpenLRS with single frequency only (no hopping, no telemetry etc) would we get better range?
Reason I ask is that in the UK, 459MHz is pretty quiet and the upper part of the band (459.1 --> 459.5 MHz) is not on a shared part of the overall band allocation.

The Rx has RSSI that I can tap into for OSD use and keep an eye on, so to speak.
Another thing, the Rx has the ability to use diversity (2 Rx antennas), so far as I see, nobody has used it - why not?
Other than that, I'm all for KISS ;)

Nigel I personally believe we will get better range on a static channel, partially because of how the RF module is not hopping so well. Mihai is working on something at the moment to give us a better hop without too much trade off as far as range goes but I guess we will have to wait for him to give more details as and when.

btw, I'm seriously thinking of not releasing any source code for this as I already spent way to much of my free time developing a proper fw and didn't get any help from anyone else in the community regarding code etc. and everyone seems to be keeping their stuff to themselves anyway. (excepting all who contribuited to the infamous pringles and redbull fund - Huge thanks to you all once again)

I don't now anything about coding, but I do make stuff and I have spent many years perfecting my skills, I don't mined sharing my knowledge with anyone and i'm glad to help anyone when I can. I think that is part of the fun of being in a forum.

Was this tested at 10mW micro power mode or 100mW? Either way its pretty slick mate. The RSSI is looking very stable which is great news.
