Hi All.
So would be nice to be able to record my flight with my setup but not sure the best way. Also maybe have a second screen for others to watch.
In the beginning I had a RC805 VRX and used to plug my Dom's into that. Recently I got the Nexwave 5.8g module and its great to have it as one package and not be tethered to a ground station. Esp when flying the 250 mini quad. I had a USD video capture card and have captured to my laptop before but the setup is just messy and a pain.
Other problem is the Dom module is not compatible with the RC805 so have to change channels each time I swap. Also appears I have to remove the Nexwave module from the Dom's for the RC805 to get a decent signal.
So whats the best way to record my flight video?
1) Can I get video out from the doms and stick to using the Nexwave module. Then maybe use laptop or get another DVR. (Cant seem to find manual for Doms as not current model)
2) By a RC832 So I can tune into the same freq as the doms and not need to be teathered. Then get a DVR recorder to connect to that. Would be the cheapest maybe?
3) If Im getting another VRX should I be getting the Fatshark Uno5800 so is maybe "more compatible" ?? About 4 times the price of the RC832 but then would still need a DVR. Would I notice any difference between the Uno5800 and RC805. Should I try and standardize or is it not needed.?
Any other options I should look at ?
Cheers

Yes the AV socket on your Dominators act as a video output while using a built in receiver.

That is another option. Maybe the most practical.

The Nextwave Uno will not blow you away enough compared to the 805 to justify the price if your concerned don`t bother. If your not so bothered about price go for it : )
Either way, ditch the laptop and get a compact DVR, its a lot more compact, less hassle and more practical.

This.
I use my Doms with the 5.8 module and a little DVR. the DVR is small enough that I fasten the case around the strap of my Doms so I'm still free from any trailing wires/groundstations
Cool might start with a DVR as need to get one anyway.
What about one of these ? Seems to be the same specs and the ones that come in the pretty cases but cheaper and way smaller. Could cover in black heatshrink and stick to the Doms and it would look almost intergrated :-)
Sorry about the Chinese. Living here at the mo and this is the local version of ebay just a 1000 x bigger. If you use google chrome it can translate or the spec numbers im sure you will get.

Found the Dom manual online so will sus out the video out.
Cheers
You get what you pay for and your only paying £28 for that so I would expect not a lot from it. No case for the weather, can`t really see what formats / bitrates it records at etc.
I use the Pocket DVR, or the FPV_Japan DVR, or the DVR 700 or the............ You get the idea anyway, they are all the same DVR, mass produced in China, re-branded, marked up and resold.

In the UK its around £100 to buy. I love them, that much I have 3 of them. Now I would not be at all surprised that with your being over in China with access to their ebay that you could pick one up for £50.
Then its plug it straight into your Doms, its small enough to have on the headband and the best recording I`ve seen yet.
Everyone's a winner :)
Well had a awesome flight today. 8km and managed to get it mostly recorded using the Video out on the fatsharks to the PC. I was using a 10+ year old USB Tv capture card and the connection went a big wonky at times then totally dropped out for the last bit of the flight. Shame as the video quality I had in the goggles was way better.
Anyway got a new personal best by nearly double.
For sure going to get a pocket DVR.
Cant find one like the one above. All the local ones I seem to find have the same specs but dont list the Bitrate which I guess is the keen missing ingrediant.
They are extremely cheap but so guess will grab one to give a go.
flight from today.

Awesome flight there - I got to 5km on my 3 turn using the L9R but thought there was more in it.... your video proves it, although the turn looked a bit scary :)
Nice one, I need to step up my game some more
As you would like a second screen how about one of the all in one monitor/diversity rx/DVR. I have seen some with diversity and 700 lux

The turn looked scary only because the connection from the goggles to the PC was dodgy. Im using a 10+ year old TV capture card and the vertical stability started going crazy as the quality reduced. Also the plug into the goggles if you wiggle it goes crazy. I think I moved to try and get better radio signal as RSSI was having low dips. The view through the goggles was stable. I think with an antenna tracker can get a little further. Also there was a few trees close to me not far off the line of sight. Not sure if that helped.
he said he was in China, it's very well known that the DVR Coyote linked you to is the exact same one as the following two links

both are chinese websites, I'm sure postage and customs would not be an issue if you live there lol
or have the second screen for bystanders do the recording for you

Thanks didn't think of them. I just searched on taobao (local ebay) and nothing comes up with those models. So guessing they are not selling locally. I have brought a few things off them directly before. Can pay and ship locally so no duties etc. Plus freight is 2 quid to get within 24 hours.
There are heaps of variations of this tyoe of one. All have the same specs. None of them list the Bitrate but so guessing that is where they full down.

I actually ordered one of these just because they are cheap and to check it out. With being the board only I might be able to stick onto my Goggles and will hardly notice it. Would be minimal cleanest setup. Will give a go and post some vids. If not up to it can get one from BEVRC or Foxtech

Hi anyone till listening :-)
So after getting the cheap and cheerful option and being totally disappointed as I expected. I have decided to splash out on a better DVR.
So today had a great flight. 8KM out with really clear vid on the 5.8g, coming home was 4km out and someone a 300m away at another flying spot turned on a FPV quad on the same freq. So all of a sudden was watching someone else flight....... :o :o :o :o
Flicked into RTH waited a while, was getting flicks of my plane. Came back insight landed happily. Thinking this is going to be great video. Some nice screen shots way out and a nice video to show my mate who unknowingly swamped my video. Download it and it totally pixilated corrupted crap un watchable. So this thing is getting the boot.
So are the ones above still the go? Cost is really no consideration as have learnt my lesson buying cheap so really want to get it right this time.
i bet that was the longest 4km wait of your life! :o

I have had worse so wasn't getting tooooo stressed. Just a little :-) Have to say the Tornado AP has saved my butt more than once.
the worst I have had is near the limit of range I lost signal. With several changes to the plane untested....... Yes stupid mistake......The RTH throttle was not enough for the weight upgrades it had been through. Plus being marginal on height. Plus increasing the roll rate on Autopilot mode. So Lost signal it went into RTH mode, Turned too fast, lost more height. Went further out of range. And had marginal throttle so was on the verge of stall and slowly losing height.
I had 10 min with no video. Got it back when the plane with 3km closer. It had lost most of its height and was wallowing about on the verge of stall. that was brown paints moment.

instances like this are the reason I've opted for an inverted V antenna for my video on 1.2.
Have the V pointing to your tail and the open part of the V pointing in the direction of travel. The RF pattern gives you more coverage in the direction of the open V, so if you lose signal or are operating on the edge of your range... as soon as the RTH points the aircraft back towards home, you should theoretically get your picture back.
of course... unless someone with a powerful VTX turns it on close by lol.
The pocketDVR / FPVJapan / PVR700 is still the one to have. Think of the money and disappointment you would have saved by getting it in the first place :)
