Hi all,
There aren't many build threads on the web for this little wing so I thought I'd do one.
I wanted a small wing that can carry a go pro and simple FPV setup.
my plan is to use the go pro and take the live video out to a 200mw Vtx. I can power the go pro from the 5v feed on the vtx so eliminate the battery is I need to.
I knocked up a go pro holder in 123d and printed it out on my 3d printer in ABS.
I have since designed Mk2 holder but I'll go with the one I have printed for now. the external dimensions are the same so I can cut it out and stick Mk2 in it's place if needed/damaged.
I am planning to run a 250 quad power setup on this so I'll be using a 2200kv motor and 20A esc with a gemfan prop as I have a bag full of them.
I may eventually add some form of RTH/OSD to it but I'll try without to start off with.

the Wing kit arrived yesterday so 2 days to get to me which is fantastic.

I'm sure you've already built one and have a better idea than me, but if I was to do mine again I'd rotate the battery 90 degrees. It would fair better in a crash and make the cg easier to adjust, particularly with you gopro holder. I'll keep an eye on this build so I can copy your ideas later to modify mine... 😜
I put a cyclops breeze OSD on mine which weighs 35g with current sensor.

Hi Matt, no never made one of these. I am going to use an 1800Mah 3 cell in it which fits exactly across the go pro holder, more by luck than design.
in the mk2 one I have opened it up a bit more to give a little more clearance.
so yes the battery will be mounted across the fuselage and as far forward as it will go. I'll fine tune the CG with the mobius battery either in or out. I need to mock it up with all the gear so I can make a guess as to the best place to cut the nose for the box.
but I need my wife out of the house before experimentation begins ;)

Don't think I've seen a raven with a go pro on it. Look forward to seeing the outcome. The holder looks good.

I think the motor I was planning to use will be a bit small though so a heavier motor will be found.

Printed up a battery box to mount either a 2200 or 1800 3 cell pack I have had to remove a lot of foam to fit it in so I hope epoxy sticks to abs!!

It looks great... I can't help but thinking this would be a lot easier on the Falcon instead of the Raven though. They're only a bit bigger in their width, but can carry a lot more easily.
That said, I hope you can get this balanced out and flying nicely - watching with interest
I am sure it would be but for £20 I figured I'd give it a go...
if it all goes to sh1t I'll just cut a straight line on each side and make it 5 inches narrower as a normal combat wing.
I wanted the smallest form factor I could get with a cheap wing. I'll probably never fly it, seems to be the way my hobby works, I get something build it, maiden it then get bored and build something else...

Looks interesting. IME, small wings tend to fly pretty badly when loaded up, but hopefully the Raven should be better. I flew a Raven with a light FPV setup a while ago and it was great.
I had a ritewing mini zephyr and that flew lovely when it was balanced right, some lead came unstuck between flying outings and I didn't notice she went in really hard it is repairable but for the price of these Ravens I figured it would keep me out of trouble for a few nights...

Got the wings glued together and the boxes fixed in to so I can try some proper balance tests. If I mount the servos at about the mid point of the aileron and the vtx on the motor mount bulge it will balance slightly tail heavy with a 1300 3s at the back of the box, which means I can fine tune it. It is pretty nose heavy with a 2200, but the 1800 is only a little nose heavy.
Weight isn't too bad either 500g with a 1800 pack and 450 odd with the 1300.
