Hi all,
My son would like to use his traxxas slash as an Fpv car.
I have done the mods for the car simple 808 #16 for cam with live out and on board 720p recording connected to a 250mw immersion vtx running off the 2s main battery.
He is only 7 so struggles with goggles although they do stay on his head I reckon he'd be better off using a screen so I broke out the 3d printer and did some bits...
I made an adaptor to mount a 22mm waste pipe to the top of my tripod so I can get the vtx nice and high I feel with ground based Fpv the higher you can get the receiver the better. I also made a bracket for the 22mm pipe that holds the vtx at the top.
I made a shroud for the screen so he can see what he is doing.

A clip for my goggles

Just waiting for better weather to test it.
I'll be using a skew and a 3 turn helical on the diversity rx. Pointed slightly down should give a football pitches worth of range quite nicely.
Once I have him up and running I'll race him with my mini quads...
Cheers

I'm sure you will get some range with that set up my antenna is 4 metre's off the ground when set up and I still wish for more height though :D
should be fun with both of you chasing each other though its sometimes a bit lonely driving on my own :+
dizzy
Looks good Steve, the higher the better :)
some really good ideas there !! I like the goggles clip and the monitor shade surround...overall, a simple clean and I bet it will be an effective GS
Ok some more mods now.
I need to explain some things so you understand some of the things I have done.
I am now bnuc-s and have a permit for aerial work. The quad that I have for this is just a 350qx3 ap. I am working on the powers that be for something a little higher spec and 8 motors but that is all to come.
So the 350qx has the cgo2 camera which has a wifi downlink.
I have hit the forums looking for ways to mod it so I can hook up a 600 I mean 25mw vtx to it but to no avail.
So one of my inputs needs to be hdmi so I can have a live out screen on my gs. The camera will still work from the phone but I need the bods to be able to see the screen.
At the same time as this happening my wife's PC went to PC heaven. So I repurposed the lcd screen I bought a controller board on eBay and hey presto I now have a 15" monitor.
I use a RCA to hdmi convertor which is the little white box in the lid. This system will blue screen so to avoid that I use a cheap dvr
This rounds off the lid part for now.
Next come the counter weight have you ever noticed that these high impact cases like rolling over backwards? I figured I needed some weight in there.
So the bottom half houses my hitec h4 charger and a up server power supply.
The power supply runs off mains but I have a generator and most of the sites I am using the quad to survey have mains power anyway. When I have no supply I will run a couple of 6100 mah 3s packs to power it.

The lcd controller is in the little 3d printed blue box and the white box is the hdmi convertor with the remaining bix being the dvr.(http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/09/03/5ce6e78383e85eb11d35b044299da4f2.jpg)
Now to wire it all up and give it a test. Not sure which way to go with the vrx may keep it on the pole or make something so it mounts on the case... But that part is for my fun not work.
