As we say goodbye to 2015 and welcome in 2016. What are your goals for this year coming ?
Mine last year was simple enough. To get out much more often. Instead of talking myself out of it, instead to get out and do it. To attend some meets and meet some members.
On reflection I did just that. I have flown as much early on as I could have. I went along to two Mad Dogs meets and have had some of the best flying ever. So job done, I am satisfied I kept to my resolution.
This year I'm not sure. I would like to keep up my attendance at meets. Again get out as much as possible. But that's not a new goal.
This year I want to concentrate on improving the airframes I have and making them more reliable and step up my video editing too.
So what are your 2016 resolutions ?
Mines to meet you mate, simples
:-*
I'd second that..... long overdue and robbed of the opportunity this year.
And make the most of what I have because I need to buy a house... and get a paramotor in the next 18 months ..😊
I've got 2 so far:
1 - Don't let the wind put me off ... so I've built a 290 size hex out of an old 250 + spares over Xmas, hopefully that will cope better than a quad
2 - Stop tinkering with core models - last year I always seemed to be 'just tuning' my models and subsequently they were never 'ready to fly properly'. This year I am aiming to have at least one plank and one multi tuned and ready to fly all the time so there's no excuses...first though, I need to get one of each 'properly tuned' :(
I think last year I was the same, I vowed to get out flying more... and I did. I was able to finish work early at least a few times a week in the summer, and got some really good flying in.
I think this year I'm going to focus on finding new places to fly. I need to venture further out, so I think at least a few trips to the North Yorkshire Moors are in order, along with a few trips to the coast as well. Always open to suggestions and invitations :) (although I don't do crowds, so no big meets for me)
I aim to fly on more than 200 out of the 365 days. ;D
Place better than I have in a race event (3rd) but that will require a lot of luck. (or sabotage) \0/
wow, that's a lot of flying
1 - Stop waiting for perfect windless days, I need to embrace the weather and become a better pilot. I can fly in the wind, but I don't enjoy it as much - I need to just get used to it and have fun with it.
2 - Fly a little further and higher, glad I broke my 1km duck this year despite the mentalist challenges I'm facing
3 - Fly in different places (I think this is probably key to enjoying my FPV and getting nice videos, but also building trust in my airframes)
That'll do - I'll probably not be doing much flying with people this year unless they come to me because I just don't have the time and I'm a little short of funds thanks to my bloody house. Need to top it up!
Stop flying alone and meet up with some of you guys, and have a chase round the skies :ohyeah:
Happy new year all.
1)To get a Slope/ Thermal Soaring FPV setup working nicely with My Aether.
2)To have done some competent motorless FPV slope soaring by the end of Summer.
All that of course using my home spun OSD/ FC /APM/ Tracker combo which I hope to greatly expand and improve this coming year.
regards
Andy
Well for a start a massive happy new year to all.
1. Aim this year is to fly out as far as poss at low level, that means playing around with antennas.
2. Now I've got the sh nicely setup for mapping (big thanks to Thunderstruk) I would like to concentrate on acquiring some customers.
3. The plans have been drawn for a big balsa twin so look forward to a new build thread.
4. Get out of my IT job asap!
Cheers all and happy flying. Btw the weather here is beautiful today, wind speed is 3kts so guess where I'm off to....
Get shot of all the spare bits and pieces bought in error even if it means giving away for free to newbies. Smile more. Lose 17 lbs. stop buying second hand crap for nearly new prices. Visit Scotland for a long holiday.

Happy New year all! My resolutions are:
1. Stop buying new planes.
2. Start finishing builds so I can actually fly them ratger than having a bunch of nearly ready to fly planes!
My target is :.
1.Stop boring work, flying commercial ONLY !
2.Stop boring commercial flying and race for money ;D
Spend less on new models and fly more of what I have.
One more to add for me...
I'm going to try and ignore all of the hilarity about rules / registration / regulation and just do some flying, if there's no fun there's no hobby IMO.

F..g right !!
Mine are two simple ones.
1, Stop crashing Bixlers ;D and have more respect for them
2, Kick some LR ass with the MTD
Looking forward to the next MD and start to put more names to faces :)
One resolution: Leave the flying field with the same body-part count as I arrived with.
This year we be mostly flying higher, further and faster, but with company= FORMATION FLYING/EXPLORING. Adds a whole new level to FPV when you're off to the hills with a wing man.

Oh yeah, totally rocks doing long range FPV with a buddy. Thanks for reminding me I'm losing my FPV buddy this year. :(
Sorry mate :(
Guess my new years res, not that I do them, is to stay in touch with the great people on here while I'm away

How long you going for Bud? Neil I could be a poor substitute 😬
2 or 3 years mate. I'll be back visiting, just need to tie in some good weather when I do.
@CockneyBoy You're definitely a prospect if my background grooming of AdamG doesn't work out. ;)
@Brucey, yeah we'll definitely sort out an FPV festival for when you're around. In mean meantime keep the spare room made up. :P
Mine is to finish building something! 😆
Yes I still haven't finished building the raven wing which I bought last year. 😲

Do we have a new contender for Gundummy`s title of FPVHubs slowest builder ?
Yea Gundummy... nows the time to be building when it's cold so that you don't spend the entire summer wishing you had something to fly :)
Yes - possibly me.
I've been staring at this SW1900 and Vector and Dragon and Telefly for a week now, just trying to figure out how to put it all in so I can get at it all after I glue it up.
Could be a long build...
:-[
Still never mind, had a couple today on the Lazy Sparrow in the wind - great fun!

It's a skywalker, you can't have anymore space for the gear!
I Know... I know.
There's loads of space, but I'm too stupid to lay it all out nicely...
:-\
My one is to not have Cadet on my profile after putting in all those hours on hear in the past, O well, my bad, I reckon my new years Resolution will be to stay in touch with you guys more, and remember to play more as well as work. Happy new year Guys.

So for ones in my life, I haven't hade much to say.
I have been busy with some uther projects, but thay don't fit with this forum, I have been designing an ROV and working on my 3D printing.

thanks bud. ;)
Welcome back Gordon. I wondered what happen to you. You found any spots in London to fly yet?
My new years resolution? Fly more and learn to get my quads into acro mode and to stop using horizon and flying them LOS. Better get a load more props in stock.
Cheers and happy new year, Mark

Hi bud, I'm living at island gardens across the river from Greenwich, thers a big Park there.
To be honest, I haven't been out flying much, but I have my quad with me now, so I will be getting out soon.
Have a great new year.
Hi G
Got you all sorted and back on, all be it with a different name lol
Looking forward to a reincarnation of the squirrel
Happy new year mate
Thanks Simon
Thing is when you start all over agen with only 13 posts, people think your talking ball, I know most of the time I am. Lol
Squirrel is old hat now I think, didn't some skin a cat and turned it into a quad.
I found a brilliant biuld on RCGroup for a printed Dji inspire clone, been re designing some of the parts ready for my return to London, where my printers are. Ordered the carbon tubing for it, I have posted it up in the 3d printer section, looking forward to that, will post up the progress as I go. Got a sweet little mini fy 3 axis gimbal to fit to it. G
Welcome back G :)
As for NY res, I'm planning to do more flying, and start a University Drone Racing series :)
Thanks Miles. ;)
To make 2016 as good as 2015 was!
I didn't get that many hours in total but every single flight was quality. Didn't have any failures or crashes either. Maybe I'm not trying hard enough lol.
@BeesleyBoy - Used to live on the Isle of Dogs. Mudchute park was where I had my first FPV flight! Definitely fine for testing quads. I've had my Z2 down there too ha. You probably recognize the location here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mw3pS4afh4w (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mw3pS4afh4w)
I'm only 20 mins away, I fly at Hackney Marsh for testing so gimme a shout if you fancy meeting up sometime. I fly mostly planes but I'm building a small quad for a laugh.
G man you deserted Cornwall again :o
dizzy ;)
Hi dizzy

My New Year FPV resolution, get some kit and lose my fpv cherry.
Hey Marky Cambs - it's a strange thing..
I have flown LOS for donkeys years, and when I first tried FPV I found it very hard for about 3 flights, then I twigged - hang on, this is really easy & really really fun.
;D
good luck with it !
