Actually I meant to post this
Same heading though
Tonight I got a visit from the FBI

I had a Skype chat yesterday with an buddy who now lives in Denver Colorado, USA. We've been flying RC models for over 45 years and of course the chat got around to the FAA legislation when compared to the CAA. To cut a long conversation short, he said " I cannot believe that something I have been doing for 45 years is now more legislated against than tobacco, alcohol and guns in this state.

Ah you should have said. For a minute there I thought the subject was interesting lol
They don't have a problem with being pulled up for someone elses transgression just because they happen to fly RC aircraft nearby? Don't they see the issue here? It's exactly what people said would happen.
I'm pretty sure this is what would happen anywhere if the authorities were investigating some unknown dickhead flying a model in heavily restricted airspace.
Because a register containing all nearby fliers doesn't make that just a teensy bit easier.
It's all good until they turn up at your place of work on the off chance you're a drug runner simply because someone who didn't register flew nearby with a Phantom filled with packets of cocaine for the local school kids
I was reading the link that was posted, though. The Feds had just looked on YouTube.
Oh great .. another f*cking rant thread ...
F*ck sh*t p*ss b*ks.. lets all commit suicide now
regards
Andy

I would volunteer for this but first i would need to know how a wire attached to me and a balloon the other end is then captured safely and then routed to the back of the plane to enable me to gain entry to the back.
Logic says maybe the cutter that removes the balloon also crimps my wire to another first which is ready routed to the back door
This as always been a complete mystery I wonder if i,m the only one who thinks this way ;D
As for the rest of the thread we knew this is whats gonna happen so why worry about it ;)
dizzy :)

I think the point is that they can just turn up on your doorstep because you are on the register as an RC pilot.

From that link, though:
QuoteHow did the FBI agent end up at your door?
QuoteSomeone who used my app RCFlyMaps told them about me. After that it is pretty freaking easy to find anything I have ever posted online Guess you don't have to register with the FAA for the government to be able to hunt you down...
Not really anything to do with the register.

maybe not this particular situation, but having a register will mean they won't even need to scour youtube or rely on hearsay when looking for possible suspects in "the vicinity" of an alleged offence.
once you're on a register, you're immediately a suspect... regardless.
