couple of new planes to the hangar,
first ones a top flight giant scale 1:4 corsair thinking 30-38cc petrol
and other ones a 1:4 scale flair Puppeteer thinking turnigy g60 motor on a 5s 5000mah.
both are kits to build however will be sitting around for a while as i have managed to shatter one of the knuckles in to 3 parts, going tuesday for it to be all plated and pinned back together, they also suspect tendon damage but will not stop me from flying lol

Whimp! That should be minimum 50cc. Seriously, a sub-40cc engine on that airframe will be more than useless. It's a warbird, so you will need the nose weight of a 50cc + lead for starters. Of course, to really do it justice it needs a radial, but I'll grant you the cost is pretty prohibitive.

That corsair was originally designed around the Quadra 41. I know cos I had one back in the day, still got the P51. The Corsair flies really well. I seem to remember that others had the zenoah 45 in them and others had the Zenoah 60. I had to stop flying mine as I could not get the noise down below 85db ,which was our club noise level, without putting a stupid amount of external muffling on. I remember that Toni Clarke did a noise kit for the 60 which I used on my Glens CAP, and with a Fiala 3 blade prop I got the CAP down to 84db. Out of interest what retracts are you planning to use on the Corsair?

as for the prop been looking at this type, and no not going to fpv lol or i may as well get a cheap crap foamie and do that as i will not see the plane in the air kind of defeats the object of scale flyin lol

been looing at retracts the Robart retract system are a great bit of engineering but thinking electric eflight (tad cheaper), just need to make sure they are 90deg rotate type lol
When you get around to building the wing ( I hope it's the mk2 kit with the wing build jig) have a look at the mods for the retract mounts. The original design has sacrificial mounts that are designed to shear when you land hard, or bounce, designed to save the retracts not the plane. The mod toughens up the mounts. Plenty of advice on the LMA site and RC Groups. Basically it's the same as the P51 mod. Will that motor fit in the cowl? And you will never get it under 93db so I hope you don't have a noise issue at your site.
IME the e flite retracts will be too small, they are for 1:7 scale (20cc) models. And they don't do a tail retract. The twist and turn mechanism is very week. What happens is as you taxi over grass the wheels turn through 90 deg and you will nose over. I had them on a 60 size corsair and they where Rubbish. Your corsair is 1:4 scale and will weigh over 26 lbs wet. Robart or Sierra are the way but like all things modelling he who pays the piper calls the tune. 😀
