Hello Peeps!
So, having taken a break away from the RC hobby for 6 months, i have been waiting for something to kindle my fire. I knew i wanted a wing of sorts, but something that could carry a bit of weight if needed.
I was pointed towards flyingwings and had a look at the Venturi Evo 2.
Not many words going to happen here, just lots of pictures and the comments i have for the kit as i go!
...Lets jump in head first to the wooden parts!
The kit i got is a bit rough around the edges, but this is how it comes in the kit.
The parts are cut with a CNC router as far as i can tell, no laser cuts here! Im not sure why a router has been used on this kit as i believe the original Evo has all laser cut parts? As you can see, the cuts are rough...so it needs a bit of work.
Strangely though, the elevon's are laser cut but as you can see there is lots of scorch marks
The manual is simple enough, basic but it does the job as this is aimed at the experienced builder. Cutting the tabs was easy enough and the parts popped out ok, i was a little worried the wood would rip up the grain but all seemed fine
Now, im not sure if i just got one of them kits, but the machining of some of the slots were poor, the machine they used has loads of backlash by the looks of it. Not great for a slot together part. the motor plates again were not aligned and were out by 3mm, took me a little while to mess around with it.
The front reads 210mm between sides, the back is 220mm so not ideal, but fixable.
Lots more faffing to do before i glue it together, also the EPP parts that fit on the top and bottom are a full 50mm too wide, so i'm going to need to trim these parts too!
So far not meeting my expectations, but i shall continue and i'm sure it will work out fine :-X

Ah so you've started!! I've sanded the bits and slotted them together, glued the motor mount but want to make a modification to the front end... this might be a sloooow build but no shock there ;D
I intend to put a tilt device in the front which means i'll have to cnc the side panels once i finalise the concept.... also have a cam or 2 in the wings facing various directions.... decisions... mmm

Clippedwings I`ve just finished my build and will post some pics in the other thread soon.
The wooden parts in my kit were cleanly cut with no rough edges at all.

Mine as well .. he has massive OCDs (worse than coyote)

Ok Ok, yes i have OCD's :P
Wait until i get onto the wing cores, im going to need to sand some small ridges out to get it to my liking (?)
