1.2G / 5.8G Relay Ground Station.
Making this original Plastic box into a 1.2g / 5.8G Relay was an excuse to make it a neater solution and I needed to rationalise some of the wiring. The 5.8G Relay is 25mw.
Incorporating a standard home made Camera plate, it will also go on a Tripod of course, but the vacuum pad mount is so it can go on the boot lip of the car, so giving it some above head height clearance at my more usual Site.
It should run for a few hours on that 5000 Lipo, I just hope that Chinese suction cup holds up, its quite heavy.
The 1280mhz Patch is having its own vacuum mount, so I can use either the Dipole or the Patch.
Pleased with it really, close in testing is giving a perfect image and my 5.8G Diversity Monitor is back to its neat, clean, lightweight self for when I'm doing 5.8G stuff........:)

Hey Blue,
Yeah, me too...Im waiting for some decent weather to try it out...I have flown my 1280 mhz 200mw vtx, but I dont know how much range to expect from it....Have you only used the higher power 800mw vtx..?
:vulture:
only ever used the 800mw one yes mate
I've tidied up my GS now, the 600mw 5.8 GHz VTX for the relay has been taken off... I've now got a smaller 25mw VTX hardwired inside the main enclosure with the RP-SMA connector sticking out of a hole so I can plonk my 5.8 antenna right on... that's tidied up all the wires now.
I've just engaged in a swap... my X6 for a MFD AAT, so when that arrives I'll no doubt be re-hashing the whole thing again, but I can say now that 1.2 to 5.8 relay stations are pretty much awesome and done properly, work very well

Hi Blue,
Oh, nice one, tracker eh...?...well, Im pleased with my relay, but Im keen to get my 1280mhz tuned Patch tested out and measured swr...Ian says 7kms is possible with only 200mws...which would be very nice because the 200mw vtx is tiny...good for smaller models...I just wish we had a break in the weather...You need a Patch now for that Tracker mate....Did you read my little overview on cutting and tuning the Patch...?...:)

haha, yes I did... however I'd much prefer to pay a bit more and buy the pre-tuned version from readymaderc. I wouldn't be confident that I'd modify the patch just right, it's all black magic to me.

Lol, yes, the USA thread about modification of this Patch was written pretty badly by VAS...Despite this, reading between the lines a bit it was not so difficult to do...Should get it checked out soon, but my mate had to go to the Dentist, so I will arrange another visit soon...So, is it a Patch, Helical, or Yagi for your new AAT...?
