Title: Different ground station requirement
Post by: flybynight on March 16, 2016, 08:39:01 PM
This isn't quite an FPV question, but it is a ground station question. I have a DJI Hexacopter with a GoPro mounted that transmits through an Immersion Rc 600mw to a Black Pearl diversity monitor, tripod-mounted and situated right by my flight Tx. Range is only about 100-150m before I get a herringbone pattern on the Black Pearl. I thought I might try a 2-tripod set-up with a video receiver on one connected to a monitor (or could it go to the Black Pearl?) via, say, a 5m cable. Idea being that the flight Tx and video Rx would then not interfere with each other. Anyone got any experience of this sort of ground station an/or any suggestions for the right gear to use and/or any alternative solutions? Hope this isn't too long winded or answered elsewhere. Newbie.

Are the Tx and Rx on matching channels?

Yes. Both set to channel 4 - i.e. video Tx and video Rx

this might sound counter intuitive, but both being on "channel 4" may not actually mean they're on the same frequency. Unfortunately, the world of FPV electronics is not standardised so you may find Ch4 on one piece of equipment is 5740 for example, whereas Ch4 on the other device is actually 5820.

Take a look at the manuals of each device to see what frequency each channel is.

If the frequency is close but not the same, you will get a picture on the receiver at close range.
