Title: Vector to 2.4 vtx is LC filter required?
Post by: luvbus on March 23, 2016, 10:57:02 AM
Is it a good idea to install a low pass filter inline between a Vortex and video transmitter?

I'm using the Eagletree Fatshark loom to a 2.4 immersion vtx.

Cheers,

Richie

Do you mean vortex or vector?

Low pass filter sits between a transmitter and its antenna. Not sure if you're getting mixed up with LC filter maybe?

If its LC filter... then I always install an LC filter between my battery and my video gear (cam and Vtx) when using a single battery setup.

Well you might not need one. I put them in as they weigh next to nothing and cost pennies to make.

If you have a power cable that splits off to provide power to the cam and Vtx separately then put the LC filter before the cable splits. You should only really need 1 LC filter in total.

I wasn't sure with the immersion vtx as they make out it filters the power supply. I have a couple of filters so can install one.

If you could describe how you have it wired it would help. Do you power your camera via the power out connector on the Vtx?

A single 8ah flight pack, Eagletree current sensor/PSU shunt inline before ESC.

The PSU supplies the Vector which in turn feeds separate power to VTX & camera via a dedicated Fatshark/Immersion loom. Vtx is a 2.4 700mw Immersion, camera HS1177.

The ESC (Jeti) BEC will power the Vector's servo bus which has a passthrough to power the crossfire receiver via PPM lead.

The only other stuff is GPS & pitot sensor on the Vector bus.

Simple answer... no.

The Eagle Tree Vector PSU already has a filter in there for the VTX and Cam feeds.
