Title: Done it! My first landing
Post by: Rob T on April 01, 2016, 04:47:12 PM
Greetings,
I took my trusted (?) Sky Eye to the field today and had a most excellent FPV flight culminating in my first landing.
I had begun flying some distance away and my spotter was getting slightly worried and when I came back round I decided to have a run straight down the strip.
It was when I was lined up that I noticed that I was getting close to the ground and decided to go for a landing.
More by luck that judgement the camera seems to be at the correct angle as I touched down without a bounce and came to a halt in line with myself.
There were only a few minor issues;
1. Somewhere in flight the canopy blew off
2. My Fatshark goggles did not record the flight despite the red record light being on.
3. I nearly fell on my arse upon landing and it was thanks to my spotter that this didn't happen. ( I known why many FPV flyers tend to sit down now)
Other than those niggles I was brilliant fun. Can't wait for another go.

2. My Fatshark goggles did not record the flight despite the red record light being on.

I was caught out by this the first time I tried recording from my fatshark DomV2 goggles

there are 2 button presses required... you have to wait about 10-15 seconds after powering on the goggles before you do a long press on the right hand switch.

1) the 1st press turns the DVR on... indicated by a SOLID red light
2) the 2nd press sets the DVR recording... indicated by a FLASHING red light

IMPORTANT!!!

Don't get excited and take the power cable out of the goggles before you first STOP the recording (again, just a single press... the DVR indicates it's stopped recording by showing a solid red light) otherwise it will not write the file it's just been recording.

Good job feller.

Something with the Fatshark goggles, mine won't record to 64gb cards, only 32gb cards. And best to format them in the goggles to the right setting.

Oh and you have to press the button once to get a flashing red light signifying it's being recorded.

What did your previous flights culminate in?  Or shouldn't I ask.

Thanks for this. I'll give it a go.

Done it. Recorded my first bit on the Fat Sharks.
Many thanks.

PS the quanum v2 goggles are all up and running now. Just waiting for the upgrade kit to arrive.
