I was feeling bored the other day, so I went in to my mancave and fished out my old AXN which I'd already cut the wings down as well as attempted to spray it with Halfords Car sprays to see how it would take. So as you can gather, this is my "project" plane where things get added or indeed taken away all in the name of science. It's not flown yet (and may never fly well), but I thought it would be fun.
My effort below is quite modest I'm sure, but I'd be interested to see more frankenst.... I mean modifications to your airframes.

Modifications done:
Clipped wings
Added Winglets (because they do "special" things or so I've read)
Clipped horizontal stab (well I clipped the wings so why not)
Increased surface area of rudder (because I want to do handbrake turns in the sky)

3D printed 450 "dead cat" frame with a 40mm EDF running through the core.
It started off life after this mod actually showed some promise:

Not so much a modification, as an excellent field repair of a foamy Multiplex MiniMag. After sustaining extensive damage when an Egg Drop release mechanism went slightly wrong, I lost a rather large chunk of the leading edge of the wing.
To get it flying for the next round, the missing chunk was shaped roughly from a few sheets of crumpled up kitchen roll, and held in place with gaffer tape. It worked a treat, and is still flying now.
The Egg drop mechanism was basically a kitchen roll tube (the cardboard bit in the middle), capped at one end with some gaffer tape, and taped to the top of the wing. A "small" amount of black powder wrapped tightly in some gaffer tape was placed at the bottom, followed by a sheet of kitchen roll wadding, and then the egg, and then another sheet of wadding to hold it all in. The idea was that a 15 second fuse was lit, plane takes off and lines up with the target, blackpowder ignites and forces egg out of tube, and onto target.
I assume that I slightly miscalculated the amount of powder needed though, as the tube basically exploded, taking a chunk of wing, and most of the tail with it...
Thats a classic! Made me laugh.
It was bloody good fun actually. After a few minor accidents, and dodgy repairs, we actually got it working too. We swapped the kitchen roll inner tube for a Pringles tube, and used less black powder. A lot less, in fact..
The target was safe though, I think the closest drop was 22 meters or something like that....
