My depth perception is absolutely crap with only one eye working properly and sadly my Skywalker met its match tonight while I was flying LoS (safer??)
Admittedly not the best of areas to be flying but it was only meant to be a quick 10 minute trimming flight to get the Tornado OSD dialled back in after rebuilding the plane.
No real damage (rudder came off that's all) and a bit of luck since my GoPro + Mobius were uncased and that dyke full of muddy water wouldn't have mixed well with them at all.
Nothing would power on when I came back home, turns out the BEC had unplugged from the receiver and since I had to pull it all apart to get to the BEC under the wings I decided to order a Skywalker Revolution to replace this one rather than rebuild because the fuselage was already looking shabby with cuts and hotglue everywhere.
Roll on the weekend for a nice new white plane, everything should transfer over nicely :)
I would have blamed the low sun Steve.
I know where you are coming from with the one eye Steve, but having mono vision for so long, defo helped my Fpv. 😀

Out of interest, what made you decide to fit undercarriage ??
Because I like to sit down with my goggles on and take off.
It looked to me like the undercarriage snagged on the wires. Had it not been there the belly would have slid off the wires.
Maybe try carrier-deck style landings with an arrester wire.

Seems so - it's more evident in the wing view from my Mobius. Plus the fact that they ripped off despite the main impact with the ground being right on the nose suggests the same. Lucky it didn't get stuck up there :o
