Ouch mate, hope you got down the hospital.

Been there a few years back with a v. similar injury. One of my fingers is now slightly thinner on one side.

Only done it once, enough to know not to do it again. Damn I bet that hurt.

Had the Skywalker ready to throw, not quite right in the hand, pulled my hand back a fraction into the prop, schoolboy error
Would have been fine on an 11 inch prop

Hope it doesn't give you to much trouble bud.

Did I see somewhere that you've ordered an FX61?
That'll put you off the old "hand" launch if so!
Hope they get you back together asap -good luck ;)

Oww..That's going to be sore for a while....I feel your pain Simon m8....When I was about 8 years old, I ran over my finger on my Roller Skates, that all but pulled off my finger nail...hurt like buggery for ages.....lesson learnt.
It also explains why I haven't started building my Skywalker X6, because like all wings, they are a bugger to hand launch...Looks like a launch ramp is warranted...so much safer, and an almost guaranteed smooth launch, even if you are on your own.
Hope it gets better soon m8...

that's a nasty one Simon,ouchy.

I got bitten by my FX61 this week, fitted a new receiver and must have had the elevons reversed, instead of soaring away,it dived. And sliced my fingers on the way down.

I'm am archer as well,so don't think I'll be shooting for a bit :-\

Oh bloody hell Simon. That must of really hurt. I caught a finger a glancing blow in a 40 size glow engine once and that hurt enough.
Hope it's better soon.
Best wishes, Mark

Thanks for all the words of support guys
Finally back from hospital
Total carnage as follows
Both nails gone, 30 small stitches and a piece of my bone left up the common the day it happened
Vid of fingers (caution, a bit gruesome)

So you left some finger behind, its not as if you would have known at the time.

Glad you got it fixed up though.

With a bit of finger missing your new nickname should be Nine and half :)

Schoolboy error at your age? :D

I can imagine those few seconds after it happened, just before the pain hit you...... is it.... isn't it..... yup, here it comes...... HOLY F***
I drove a scalpel into the top of my leg (the whole blade disappeared) last weekend and there was blood everywhere. I ended up having a couple of stitches but I'd much prefer to re-live that, than have a prop go through my fingers.

Get well...... NOW
(why does everyone say "soon"? is it that they want you to suffer a bit longer?) :D

As thay sead on Jaws,  I have that beet. Had a motor bike crash at 19, meany moons ago.
Looks pretty tame now but at the time one side of my foot had a split at 90 degrees,  the tow was hanging by a sliver of skin, thay sowed it back on, with a pin holding it on, but it didn't take and got gangrene,  I was sent home for Christmas,  went out drinking and kicked it on a kerb, buckling the pin back with the tow. Every day when the dressing was changed,  more of the tow came of,  it was the living dead tow, black and smelly.

Hell yeah :D

One day, I'll post my bike accident videos - 135mph impact and I walked away..... and then I fell over and passed out when I realised I'd lost half the skin on my right arm.

Here's the only footage of the accident (I was the one in front) which doesn't actually show me coming off. Apparently, the first words out of my mouth were "did you get it on video?" :D

I can't post the aftermath video - Youtube banned me when I posted it (back in 2007).
I might be able to take some video stills but I warn you, it's VERY graphic!

Did your wheel hit the painted lines or something?
Title: Re: Watch your props guys
Post by: Vortecks on May 08, 2016, 03:16:17 PM
I saw a rabbit..... I swerved to miss it..... the rabbit turned round and ran the way I was going so I banked it over and clipped the curb.
When the cameraman put the camera down, he was trying to get the rabbit off the road.
Hit it or miss it, I was destined to come off that day...... the rabbit wasn't touched.

Damage.....
The bike slid for 220yds, straight down the white line but I bounced for 110yds.
Broken hand (now pinned and plated), bruised liver, bruised kidneys, 2 broken ribs, the skin on my right arm was torn off where the zip on my leathers popped. I'd ripped the flexor tendons in 4 fingers and I had a very bruised pride.

The police said (when I was in hospital) "how fast were you going?" I said "60mph", he said "how come your speedo was jammed at 135mph then?"

I was very lucky that day because there were concrete pillars all along the edge of that road. I rebuilt the bike and sold it after I'd recovered (5 months later).

Lucky mate
I'd rather 4 wheels than 2 tbh, I was once passenger on a suzuhonda thingy doing 120mph, I had brown underpants getting off it, never again, good job the rabbit survived,

That pic was actually Thursday just gone, the dressing they put on was great fair play, took about 5 mins of soaking in saline and then fell off
Still painful on the nail part though and it's amazing how many times you bang just the two fingers

I had a freaky think called a "Whitlow" years ago - the surgeon had to cut my nail off, but it grew again, and  after 6 months it was just fine.
Never bothered me again.
It will be fine dude !

It's looking a hell of a lot better mate. I bet it's not half as painful now!

I think the Skywalker should come with one of these.....
