This X8 came to me in bits as a 2nd hand kit the previous owner had cut holes in the wing and fuselage for bits then packed in with PFV.
It sat on my shelf for 3 years and I decided to build it up a few weeks back, filled the holes with expanding foam and lightweight filler, put a Vector in it with a Scorpion SII 3020 1110Kv and flew its maiden over at Coyote's place last weekend.
It flew ok on 4S but I found some posts saying the Scorpion moto could take 5S so today I flew it with the 5S lipo I use for my Drak.
It's transformed the launch, when I nudged it to full throttle the plane pulled so hard it started tipping in my hand, I had to steady it then let go.
Pointed it vertical and up it went.

In the goggles it was maxing out at 65a, the ESC I have in it is only a 60a so that's getting swapped out for a 90A YEP and I think I'll mount it on the outside of the fuselage.
I've also fitted thwe HK motorised spoilers as this wing has a lot of area and just floats, the patch at the local club is in the middle of corn as you can see in the video so your landing skills are tested if you fly here, the spoilers help by increasing the landing angle.

There's no way you would think that was a X8 from that video... the acceleration is awesome
It took me by surprise when I chinned the throttle up to full as I held the plane.
Before the flight I videod I said to John, 'let's see if it will keep going vertical', opened it up and it kept climbing (hate to think how hot the esc got)
I've just taken the 60a EnErG Pro esc out to replace it with a 90a and the velcro had melted off.
I've just made some extra air outlets through the fus just behind the esc to help with air flow, couldn't find a tidy way to mount it on the outside.
Think I'll get an Eagletree temp sensor to put on it so I can see if it starts to overheat.

Hobbyking spoilers, I ended up getting one side from UK and the other from China as UK didn't have them both.

I also cut the servos into the top of the wing rather than underneath.
