I'm fed up of using a cigarette lighter for shrink tubing and I'm looking forward to some balsa building and sola coating in the near future so I'm wondering what's the best heat gun to buy. I saw this on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Decker-KX2200K-Performance-Variable-Heatgun/dp/B004OBZZXS/ref=sr_1_13?s=diy&ie=UTF8&qid=1474722986&sr=1-13&keywords=heat+gun (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Decker-KX2200K-Performance-Variable-Heatgun/dp/B004OBZZXS/ref=sr_1_13?s=diy&ie=UTF8&qid=1474722986&sr=1-13&keywords=heat+gun)
I'd appreciate any advice and comments.
any cheap crappy thing will do
think I bought mine from the range
Whilst I've got a heat gun similar to the Amazon link you gave I use it for stripping paint and it's way too much power for shrinking heatshrink or tightening shrink film covering.
I bought one of the small heat guns (300w) like this one and it gives out enough heat for what we need in our hobby, looks like they only have it in pink now (mine is blue ;D )

PK :)
I use my wife's little kitchen torch thingy that she bought for doing creme brulee and stuff.
She goes nuts when I use all the gas without re-filling it ;D.
Mark.
Thanks Mark, my wife has one of those so looks like I'll be buying some gas capsules for it!
PK, nothing wrong with pink, I can get in touch with my feminine side whilst in my man-cave ;D
I use this kinda device (although it was cheaper when I got one a few years ago)
