Title: New Build Advice 4-in-1 ESC
Post by: DS123 on February 24, 2017, 01:58:27 PM
OK I'm still quite new but have a couple of brushed micros and a 210 build under my belt most of which went well. Now I'm embarking on a new smaller build and bought a Racerstar 4-in-1 ESC however I've since discovered that power does not come out of the 4-in-1 (not this one anyway see link). So my question is how can I make a build without a PDB? I was going to run the battery straight into the ESC and then thought it would power the flight controller but that's not the case. Also just to note I already have 2 flight controllers so I don't want to buy another which could take power straight from the battery. Can anyone help?

So something like this would do it?

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1pcs-Matek-Micro-BEC-Step-down-Module-5-12-V-Adjustable-Output-2-5s-Lipo-Battery/32789691186.html?spm=2114.10010108.0.0.U44lBk&scm=1007.12908.37901.0&pvid=0326df7a-22bf-4935-b773-e53b15b1fcf0&tpp=1 (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1pcs-Matek-Micro-BEC-Step-down-Module-5-12-V-Adjustable-Output-2-5s-Lipo-Battery/32789691186.html?spm=2114.10010108.0.0.U44lBk&scm=1007.12908.37901.0&pvid=0326df7a-22bf-4935-b773-e53b15b1fcf0&tpp=1)

It would be smaller than a PDB and would keep the stack to only 2 boards not 3.

Thanks

Good point. Not thought that far ahead yet. I think both are 5V.

It's going into this frame:

I was hoping to have a low stack so I could cut down on the height. Maybe it would be easier to just include the PDB after all. I have seen some people place them flat on the carbon with tape underneath. I'll have a dig around to see if I have a flat PDB tonight.
